| vincent_ | 04-23-2019 10:43 AM | Paypal asks to re-confirm my identity Hi everyone,
I have a PP account in the country where I used to live. All the info is real. The only thing - I don't live there anymore, so technically I'm using the account against their rules.
I went through identity confirmation in the end of 2016 by providing my driver licence and thought they won't ask me for that again.
But today I got a notice that I have to re-confirm my identity by 23 May 2019.
The problem is: my driving licence is expiring exactly on 23 May and I'm not able to renew it since I'm not in the country right now.
My questions are:
1. Has anyone had the same issue with re-confirming identity?
2. Is that because they got info on their file that my driving licence is expiring soon and it's automatic reminder?
3. Do they expect me to provide renewed driving licence?
Just trying to figure out what to do in this case: provide my old "valid till the end of May driving licence" or maybe to get creative with a new one.
I do realise that some of my questions are hard to answer, but maybe you can say something based on your experience.
thanks. |

They could have found out from your activities that you are in a different country, your IP address, the currency you converted and how do you withdraw the fund in your account,to where?
you can open a new Paypal account in the country where you reside,if you want to reuse credit card, make sure you remove it from your old account first.
Does the country you are in now on Paypal list of countries it does business with? |

Just wanted to ask aspkin member's opinion before making any moves.
Regarding my recent activity. Everything was as usual: I use private VPS (and have been using it for years with no issue), I withdraw money to my bank acc (and have been doing it for years). I didn't do anything suspicious to trigger ID check.
Unfortunately the country I'm living now is not on PP list (you can only send payments, but can't receive money). |

Another question I have: if you are not a resident of the country your PP is created in, would your passport work for ID confirmation?
Lets say (just as an example) Canadian has US Paypal account, bank account, verified phone number and PP asks him to confirm his ID. Could he confirm it with his Canadian passport? Would they ask for a US visa? |

| martyjump | 04-24-2019 04:53 PM | Re: Paypal asks to re-confirm my identity Just submit your driver license now before it expires and then hopefully you should be in the clear of any further requests for documentation. |
| vincent_ | 04-25-2019 03:20 AM | Re: Paypal asks to re-confirm my identity Just an update: I submitted my driving licence and 10 minutes later I got an email from Paypal saying my identity confirmation is completed and my account has been returned to regular standing.
Hopefully they won't ask for that again (still don't know what was the trigger to the second ID confirmation).
thanks everyone. |
