Paypal asking for SSN after $3,000
 

Hi - Ebay + paypal stealth has been running for 2 months now.

Paypal is asking me to insert a SSN or EIN before my account is limited.

I only made about $3,000 US. My bank account is linked and i was able to move the funds to my bank account

is this paypal account shot now that they want a SSN? Should I create a new paypal and link it to my ebay?

Should I get all the money out of the account as well?

If theyre asking for that info it means they 'projected' youll reach the annual limit - that annual limit is 200 items and/or $20,000 per year.
If an EIN is not provided they'll likely ask one more time and after that they will limit the account.
There is no way around this other than providing an EIN (and then paying your taxes associated with the account).

you cant use paypal balance ,only can withdraw funds into the bank.
but i advise you withdraw all funds and arrange another paypal account that have ssn

dont let Paypal limits this account,if they do,and you open a new Paypal account and use it to accept payments for your Ebay account,then the two Paypal accounts are linked via the same Ebay account.

IF the account becomes limited, it is only a receiving of funds limit and not hold on funds. If you chose to run the paypal until it gets Tax Limited, keep in mind, it is hard to get it clear to use next year and could be basically gone unless you added a tax number.

Stop selling on it... use another account, don't add another PayPal to this ebay account, it will be linked. it's ashame that it happened so early with only $3k in sales, but you'll be able to use it again in February of next year once tax year resets. Keeping sales under 1k per month stretches the months you can sell before PayPal asks for tax info.

I'm guessing you only sold $3k worth, but your actual number of transactions was high for the selected period and would have put you on path for the 200/year projection.


I only sold around $5k worth of stuff and had about 78 transactions over 6 months and still got the same tax verification warning, so Paypal seems to be more aggressive these days.

Once they ask, the account is dead. They don't reset the next year anymore.
