Paypal asking identify verification ?'s to add bank account.
 

This is a wells fargo bank account.

Paypal stealth account is about 5 months old with no previous issues, but has recently come up with the first 'warning' about sending in tax documents (not limited, however)


I tried to add the Wells Fargo account today, and after entering the account and routing numbers, they sent a pin to the registered google voice number (that came with the account since I purchased it)...which I did.

After that, it came up with a dialogue saying I need to answer a few questions to verify my identity.

Example:

Which of the following people have you known:

a

b

c

d

none of the above



Since this is a stealth account with fictitious info, how am I to get around this...or is there any way? They're not asking for docs, just these online questions...but it worries me.

I didn't even try to bother answering any of the questions as I don't want to touch it until I know how to proceed.

I read something interesting in another thread with a similar situation.

Someone suggested that I first needed to add a vcc (my account only has the existing ⊗⊗⊗⊗ bank account registered, no vcc to my knowledge).

Then once a vcc was successfully added, wait a week and then try and re-add the new bank account. At which point paypal will allow me to verify my identity via both phone number text and the vcc...bypassing the identity questions.


Anyone have experience with this?

I did happen across a couple other threads claiming that they were able to bypass the security questions by adding a VCC first.

I myself have yet to do it or confirm, however.

Actually had this happen yesterday on a new stealth account.

I ended up googling the name I used and eventually got the answers correct. However, try the methods above. Use this as a LAST resort. Getting answers wrong can kill an account.

I didn't touch the account the first time even after the first question. Just recorded the question in full on a txt document for possible later research.

I'm definitely going to try the vcc method first and resort to answering the questions if worst comes to worst, thanks!

This is happening to a lot of accounts anymore PayPal’s heightened security want to make sure your the account owner since with a bank you can withdrawal funds

So I waited a few days and successfully added a vcc. I'm trying to take my time and baby this process to ensure I don't mess up.

Since I now have a vcc and the original VBA attached to this account, do you think it would be beneficial to:

First remove the vba from my paypal before attempting to add my real bank account?

Or would it even matter...should I just add my real bank account and leave the VBA as-is without removing it?

@ninjastyle, I have simply added a real bank account to my US account after using a VBA in the past.

Just make sure when you WITHDRAW, you dont withdraw to the VBA....always double check the bank you are withdrawing to

Wondering if anyone can get an updated answer to this problem?

and if the VCC technique and waiting a week to add the new bank account to an aged paypal work?
