Paypal 2FA verification
 

Hi!

I have multiple (personal) Paypal UK accounts. I am just receiving small amounts (£60 - £80)

But the phone numbers are not verified, as I don't have so many prepaid sim cards...

Is it a good idea to verify these accounts by using a 2FA software? (such as Authy, Google or Microsoft Authenticator)

Even if it was possible I dont see any benefit.

Prepaid SIMs are 99p each - if you want the number confirmed on them all I would just go and buy some ore SIMs

You dont need to top up the number to keep it active..... You just need to use it once ever 3 to 6 months (depending on the provider) to receive a call or a text. Very easily done.

eBay may well follow suit, but the question is about PayPal in this case. You will find with PayPal that number confirmed or not, they will quite often still want to send the number on file a text.

Afraid your just wrong on that one bud. Lack of experience is really starting to show in quite a few comments across the forum now. It’s really important when you state something as a fact to actually be sure that it is.

I have used both Three and O2 SIMs for years without topping them up. They are still working fine so long as they get a text or a call, which I do every 2 months

As ever the key is in the detail which you are skipping a lot of the time. Many years of running SIMs the way I have demonstrate that while they may suspend the service, they actually dont. Run your accounts how you want, but stop presenting things as a 100% fact unless you know its a 100% fact

Still waiting on you to explain how you go about adding any card to any PayPal address regardless of the address....

And then this doozy.... https://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-d...ml#post1029458 - Im sure you can quote some part of the operators website or T&Cs that backs up your claim however real world experience actually tell you that if you use a UK SIM in the EU, you get a UK IP address. Thats what comes from actually doing these things yourself and not just taking everything at face value :thumb:

Just not a fan when someone goes around stating things as a fact without actually knowing its a fact. Which you are doing on quite a few occasions now.

Explaining how great the Amazon authentication app is all good and well, but also totally irrelevant. Posting for the sake of posting just doesn't help people. Its even less helpful when what your posting is simply wrong and you cannot ever concede that you are incorrect.

Not really, not when the user in question keeps getting things wrong, has it pointed out to them, and then keeps doing it. Not knowing that the SIMs don’t get deactivated when not tipped up so long as they are used is a lack of experience simple as that in this case.

I’m not trying to discourage anyone to post, but when someone posts things as absolute certain facts when they are not, then it causes confusion for new users, and that is a problem.

Just to update this top and answer the OPs question.

I did think PayPal already had an 2fa already with an App and looks like they do

OP - You can use that if you want but its possible they will still want to text you at a later stage as well (its just one of those things that PayPal do by default)
