Is my 2 pp linked? Now Tax combined?
 

Hello, pals.

My main personal PP has my SSN due to paypal required it a few years ago and I stupidly put it there.

My 2nd stealth pp has my name and unfortunately required tax doc a few weeks ago. So I put a business info there. After I put EIN, pp required personal info and last four digits of SSN. So I did put there. And now my paypal has been restored.

When I check this business pp, it has my EIN as well as SSN filled. I do have the same real name on these 2 accounts. (the 2nd was created when I was new to stealth. And I did put real last 4 of SSN when pp required it after I put EIN.)

Is my 2 pp linked only based on last four digits of SSN? How can I verify if they linked or not?

I don't know how they can have SSN filled only with last 4 digits of SSN. Does that mean they combine both PP accounts to issue 1099 tax forms?

You'll have one 1099 go out with your SSN and one go out with your EIN. Unless things have changed in the last couple of years, your accounts aren't linked.

Thank you for your response. Paypal today changed my address on the "stealth" pp (used to be). Their compliance team did this without my consent! Then I realize my EIN has a delaware address, and the bank statement has my current address which is the same as my main personal PP. Somehow they used my bank statement address.

Now even address is the same between my main personal paypal and my "stealth-used-to-be" 2nd pp.

Are these two pp linked? They have different IP, bank account, cc, email, etc. Everything is different except name, the last four SSN and now the address.

Do they combine 1099 in this case? (assume not, one in SSN and one in EIN).

What do I need to be cautious of from now on since these 2 are no longer so-called stealth.

Yes, they are linked. You literally said they changed the address to match on the accounts. How do you think the confirm last 4 SSN works? They have and compare to real SSN for your name. If it didn't match, it would not work.

It sounds like you are trying to avoid paying taxes. Considering they have your real info including SSN and EIN you created with IRS, that would be a mistake IMO.

If you were serious about avoiding taxes, you should never have given any real info and stayed below the limits as well. It sounds like you are currently below the limits if you don't combine the accounts, BUT they have your real info on each account. LOL

As far as paypal goes, you are allowed multiple accounts, for business and personal use. So they really don't care as long as you are not breaking rules.

They aren't linked. Your accounts are still two separate taxable entities in Paypal's eyes, and you'll still get two totally different 1099's. One will have your EIN as the tax ID and will show your sales totals from that account. The other will have your SSN as the tax ID and will show your totals from that account. They will show the same mailing address but different tax ID's.

Just keep running the accounts normally. You aren't at more risk now than you were previously.

I have sales in my mind. It's far below 20k&200 limit. I have some clients send me money as Friend&Family. With these combined, it just hit the limit. PP therefore asked me for documents.

It's my first time getting these requirements on a stealth. I thought paypal only counts sales items. Obviously they counts all for document verifications. Not sure about 1099, would assume PP would differentiate these transactions before sending 1099.

Messing around with Friend&Family payments is a really fast way to get a paypal account looked at manually.
