Consequences of sending ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID to PayPal
 

I currently have £500 in my PayPal account. I received a purchase from America, which must have flagged my account.

Turns out the buyer made the purchase by mistake, so I refunded him. However, PayPal are still demanding I send ID for 'appearing fishy'

Since my account was set up in my name, but just a variation, I'm thinking I can do a Photoshop job to my actual ID. However, entering fraudulent ID territory makes me nervous.

What are my chances here that they would escalate this if they don't like something?

Over 500? Very unlikely.

It's a normal security measure. They just want to make sure that you are 'safe' , and that no one have accessed your account without your consent.
Give the ID, it should be instantly verified. I have this happened quite randomly across all of my pp accounts.

What if you’ve been banned with that same ID before? It will automatically link the two and cause the account to be closed.

If the id number is different it is ok if is the same id number it will be link.

its ok i used ms paint to edit my ID and it worked received over 30k gbp on the account since then ^^

There are places where you can buy docs like this for $30USD. For soft limitation like this they work perfectly.

worst case scenario your account will be limited permanently, nothing else as paypal keep getting thousands of ⊗⊗⊗⊗ id on daily basis

Its the same as trying to get into a nightclub with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID or buy alcohol. You're not harming them. So they have no need to take it further ... They just refuse business if caught.
