After receiving a 180 day hold on funds on a banned paypal account, i was told by a rep the only hope of removing funds was to contact paypal legal department by sending a letter
Has anyone had success with this? If so, what did you write to them?
Or can anyone suggest another way of accessing the On Hold funds?
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
unfortunately it happened to me ! and paypal seized my $ 11,815 ! and three years have passed . i didn't get my money . my advice to you, contact paypal and talk to them on the phone , this way they become more solution-oriented !
Call them when and say what? They will just tell me to wait the 180 days or send a letter to the legal department. They said the legal dept cannot be contacted by phone, only letter

This is pretty discerning - what was their reasoning?

This is my suggestion.
Have a read through the UK PAYPAL section.
There are posts about what could work. You have the option of Court as well as la letter.
It's an increasingly common tactic and I get where they're coming from.
They spot a 'stealth' account, they suspect it's not wholly legitimate.
So they say 'see you in court' or words to that effect.
I'll wager over 90% of those who complain about holds past 180 days are not even in the UK or are selling counterfeit goods and know fine well legal action is not an option for their stealthy funds.
Taking paypal to the Small Claims Court following a Letter Before Action in the UK is simple.....so do it if you're legit.
Lets be honest, we all know Paypal are probably in the right and folk come to this forum looking for a workaround.
This is 100% on the mark.
PayPal is calling your bluff. They know you can't do squat if they have reason to suspect you are using a phake name, not in the UK, or doing something dodgy.
If you are legit, by all means involve the Financial Ombudsman, Citizens Advise, or even the Courts if you will.
