Paypal banned, Ebay ok. Should I just wait for managed payments?

So a couple of weeks ago I got permanently limited by Paypal. Had the account for 14 years and used it to run my Ebay business. In all that time I never once had a case opened against me in Paypal itself and my Ebay account was 100% with 5* detailed feedback across the board with thousands of transactions over the last 12 month period alone. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the account and I'd never had any trouble before.

The other week I applied for the Paypal debit Mastercard and I fear a couple of admin errors at my end were the reason my business has now been completely decimated. I now find myself looking for a job for the first time in a decade. All I could get out of Paypal is I have an "invalid ID". One rep said I could appeal in 30 days and another said there was no chance

There are a couple of reasons I can think of as to why this happened. The first is, during the Mastercard application process, Paypal led me to the address details form and I wasn't paying proper attention. I accidentally updated my address details and omitted the number of my home address; the rest of the address was the same. The other is that my Paypal account has always been in the short version of my name I have gone by all my life. My passport has the long version of my name. The final thing may have been that I accidentally had a VPN switched on.

These are the only reasons I can think of for the ban. Since then I've done my best to talk to customer services and fire off e-mails to any higher up e-mail addresses I can find, but I'm not hopeful I'll be reinstated at all and that everything has come crashing down thanks to a succession of innocent mistakes.

Anyway, the thing I'm curious about is whether I can get away with just using a stealth Paypal account and sell elsewhere like Facebook groups? I can imagine there are lots of ways selling on Facebook could provide Paypal with links to my true identity? What I sell is pretty niche and I can price my stock to generate decent interest in a few specialist Facebook groups to tide me over whilst I wait to get Ebay back. I have been told by Ebay that I am welcome back once they roll out managed payments in the UK so it's just a mtter of time.

I don't really want to mess around with Ebay stealth if I'm not actually banned from Ebay. My fear is that if I do and I get caught I could permanently lose the ten years of work I out into my existing account. If I can eventually get my Ebay account back I can get my customers back as a lot of my stuff was done at auction and my repeat customers kept on coming back to the listings. I feel like I'm in a bit of a bind at the moment.

I can understand if you have a successful Ebay account, you dont want to screw it up,but you have to wait till AYDEN comes to UK?
Do you have anyone who can sell for you and you give him a cut of the profit?
Does FB only accept Paypal payment or can you have Google Pay,APPLE Pay,AMZN ONE CLICK can also be used, fee of course is much higher.
I doubt your suspension has to with your address or passport name

While you continue to appeal for your Paypal to be reinstated, you should explore brand new eBay/PayPal stealth accounts.

You should be back in business in a year or so even if your appeal is not successful.

Just a quick update.

I got in touch with Paypal again after one department updated all my details with the documents I sent them. I went through each moment of what happened during and after I applied for that Mastercard. I reasoned with the rep that what happened on the account were daft mistakes. I also argued that my "invalid ID" couldn't be invalid if another department had accepted my documents and changed my account details accordingly. Thankfully she listened to what I had to say. My account was escalated to the appeals department and I was reinstated the next day.

I'm back on Paypal and making sales through Ebay again. I feel very lucky, from what I can gather, account reinstatement is something quite rare as far as Paypal goes.

You should be happy, because after these things happen the account gets a lot stronger in terms of longevity.

Seriously I'd set up some more stealth accounts and warm them up. You don't want this to happen again.

That is WONDERFUL news! Can you please tell me which department you contacted? I am in a similar situation... and I need to contact the higher ups but not sure who.

Re: Paypal banned, Ebay ok. Should I just wait for managed payments?

It was Paypal's customer services that escalated the account to the appeals department.
What I did do before that though was went into my Paypal account and update my name details. It asks you to upload your documents. It let me do this even though my account was banned. About a week later they sent me an e-mail to say they had updated my details. This didn't reinstate my account, but they can hardly argue with you if another department have accepted your ID documents.

I did send e-mails to every e-mail address I could find in various threads in Aspkin forums. I'm currently typing on my phone, but I'll look for the link to one particular thread when I'm back at my laptop. I even put a complaint in to the Best Business Bureau in the US, but I honestly think it was the fact I could change my details and then report that to customer services was the thing that did it.

It does appear to be a case of convincing the right person that you don't pose a risk to them or their customers.

what a bull****. Of course you can open a new paypal and sell with it on the same ebay account.
Otherwise arround (openening a new ebay when the old one was banned and using the same paypal) would be a bit risky.

why should it be a problem to use another paypal for the same ebayaccount? i mean in each auction you can enter a paypal adress so it is even intended that you can have many paypal accounts
