Acceptable use policy violation. Been using paypal for 7 years with no problems.

I got this email earlier and it's really annoying. My account was suspended without any warning or notice. It might be because of my virtual service of website building which is something I do on the side. I'm not an official company of course.

Anyway, they say i need to wait 180 days to access my money, which is kind of nasty move IMO. There is 5000 something $ on that account.

If paypal has a problem with what I'm selling, why not send me an email and tell me "If you don't stop selling this in the next week, we will suspend your account".

Such suspension is absolutely uncalled for and unfair.

For those of you who have experience with this, will I ACTUALLY be able to transfer my money in 180 days to my bank, like is there some major twist. If paypal decides to lock my money forever then we will have a problem.

Also is there any chance of me calling them and explaining that I will not sell that service again so they can unfreeze my account ?

If not, can I create a new account with the same info and use it for something else ? (This one has my name, address, bank etc.)

If paypal doesn't want to co-operate here, I am done. I dont wanna to deal with a company that has the potential to just freeze you account and $$$ without any notice or warning. I could understand this if there was no money involved but when you involve money, this type of behavior is not acceptable.

Also I've been doing this for over 5 years now, nothing has changed and this last year I've barely had any charge backs.

That's good to hear - sadly PP is so finicky at times :(

Any idea if they will at least let me transfer the money to my bank in 180 days ?

Chances are good but a caveat: there are more and more incidents of PP denying release of funds - usually related to problematic sales. Likely your activity should be fine (based on what you stated)

Thx. One more question, what if I were to wait for 180 days to pass, transfer my funds, delete the account, wait another month or two and then create another paypal with the same info and bank ?

Paypal never delete any account,so your old account would still be on its database.
if you open a new account and link the same bank account, not sure if it is possible?
designing websites should not violate Paypal AUP policy, could it be something else or the nature of the website?
But there are many cases of INR with website design, buyers would get the site and then claim INR,but Paypal has one time stated it will review such INR on a case by case basis.

Idk. Could this happen if someone reports you enough times ?
