Multiple PayPals with same Bank's Virtuals ...
 

Hello, my bank allows me to make ilimited virtual debit cards and so I have used them to verify multiple paypals. But I have just realized that all those virtual cards begin with the same 8 (of 16) digits/ numbers ... !

I guess this is a serious problem, am I right? :attention:

No problem here. These are the number which identify the issuing institution and the type of the card.

But the 8 first numbers of the 16 (virtual debit card) are the same. They will link me yes or yes !

I guess nobody else could have the same 8 digits and think that the last ones could lead to the exact bank branch !

Could anybody please confirm it?

No issues there, my bank accounts have only one digit difference - 1, 2, 3 ... No problems for over a year.

Are you sure?, if am selling similar items on the accounts and somebody reports:

"These 2 eBay IDs are selling a similar product, I guess it is the same person"

Then I will be caught!

Or if they suspend one account the others could be linked!,

What do the first 8 numbers of a virtual debit card provided by a bank mean?

Because I am almost 💯 sure that they identify the little branch from the village I have my bank in ...

They don't.

There is a mountain of info and countless websites which explain what the digits mean.

All cards issued by the same bank will have the same start.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if a provider uses Mastercard to manage their cards then even different institutions could have the same 7 or 8 digits. From what I've read they've run out of permutations to share around and the industry is moving to add a further 2 digits to increase their number bank. ( April 2022 )

Anyway, I think OP has his answer. :thumb:


Not that I want to give away any trade secrets but I've always assumed OP's situation was the route some VCC sellers took.

No, my wife has same bank, but she made/ has her account in another office/ village/ branch of the bank

She has just created a virtual card and the first 5 digits were the same as mine, OK.

The next 3 digits were different than mines, OK.

But she has created a few more virtuals and the same happens to her:

The first 8 digits (of 16) are the same !

This leads that digits 6-8 are the branch/ office/ village of the bank.

So as I say have +10 PayPal accounts with same numbers.

The last 8 ones are random for me and for her

first 6 digit are called BIN ( bank identification number)
just check after adding it in your paypal it does not show as prepaid card as long it showing debit or credit you are good to go as papal does not like prepaid

Do not worry, It's the BIN of your credit card and you may use this until Paypal consider it as a black list.

It does show as Visa Debit card but I can confirm that digits 6-8 of the virtual cards are the branch/ office/ village of the bank.

And I have almost all of my PayPals verified with that link ! :(

the 1# 1 are tipe of card 3 amex 4 visa 5 master 234 country and bank 5678 type Basic premium gold black platinium the rest acount

It is a local Spanish bank you can't create an account with, sorry

How do you verify paypal with a card? I thought they asked for account numbers.
