PayPal Dispute
 
Wondering if someone could help me with this.

I sold an item, the buyer confirmed receipt on their PayPal, money was on hold but released when they confirmed receipt. 3 weeks later they have told me the item is broke and they only just became aware of it as it had been wrapped for a birthday present. Item value is £99. They say if I don’t replace or refund then they will open a case.

Can they do that after confirming receipt? What are PayPal likely to do?

yes they can dispute even after confirm receipt and probably paypal will ask them to return the item back for refund

they have 180 days to file dispute,or chargeback with their cc issuer.
best is to let them return the item,with chargeback they may not have to return the item and you will pay charge back fee,in US IT IS $20

It is decided automaticly. they will ask them to return and when he provides a tracking and the tracking says deliverd they will refund

I just marked confirm receipt in one of the pp purchase and automated warning message was there showing I am confirming that I am satisfied with the product quality and I won't be able to file dispute later on if I click on yes confirming receipt.

Will they still be able to file dispute?

Thanks for all the feedback. I thought the comment above was true though. Once they have confirmed receipt aren’t they confirming they are happy with the item?

They can still file dispute - lots of power given to the buyer

they can still file dispute,you can buy an item and it looks fine or work fine but not for long,or expert said it is counterfeit,it can be electronics,paintings,collectibles,jewelry.
if they cant,they will just go to their cc issuer and file.they have 180 days to do so.

They can still open a chargeback, yes.

PayPal's Buyer Protection policy covers them for upto 180 days. For a physical product, you could get a tricky case. In case it is merchandise damaged / not as described, you might have to replace it to win the dispute.

The end of the contract is 180 days which I think is pretty long. That's like a 3 month warranty without questions.

if yu list the item in a category for parts,salvage,then it is different,it is not supposed to work
