Default PayPal Stole $90,000 from me

PayPal stole $90,000 from me for alleged AUP violation. Can anyone give me any tips of on what my options are?

I have ran my business for over years. In August they closed my account and said I would get my funds back in 6 months. Last week they paid themselves and stole the money. I sell digital goods in video games which as far as I am concerned doesn't violate the AUP. We essentially are just a service connecting sellers and buyers.

My friend also had the same thing happen with his site/same type of company for $70,000. Furthermore, there are 20+ other sites selling the same product as me which I have informed PayPal about that are still operating fine yet they took all my money. Sadly, a google search for paypal and lawyer doesn't bring up much.

Sorry about that. That's a lot of money.
The type of service you offered requires Pre-Approval, and this information is listed within the AUP, but in reality, it could have been added after you commenced your business.

Fighting it will cost you some money, but if they can prove you're in the wrong, it will be difficult or impossible to get your funds back.

I'd say move niche and offer something else that isn't against AUP.

If you must continue to offer the same service using PayPal, then see this thread.

Good luck.

$90,000? I'd be hiring a damn Hitman! For that kind of money, I would contact a Lawyer immediately.

I am not concerned with using PayPal anymore. I'd just like to get the money they stole.

PayPal was aware of the items I was selling for over 7 years. Furthermore, there are numerous other identical businesses out there selling the same product with no issues.

I've tried to find people who were able to get their money back from the AUP but all I see is a bunch of stories about them taking the money. Given the amount they took from me and my friend, I strongly believe I need to go after them.

I filled a complaint with the BBB, Fairshake, Federal Reserve, and Consumer Finance. I assume the only thing left would be getting a lawyer to contact PayPal?

You would think there would be some results on google for "paypal lawyer" but there is literally nothing. Its the complete opposite for Amazon.

If the account was on your name and real info then a lawyer is your correct route.
If the account was a stealth one then the money is as good as gone and theres nothing to be done about it.

For that sort of money I would try a lawyer even if it meant I have to invest a few thousand to try and get back my 90k. Can't just leave without a fight. With that sort of money you could buy a house up here in the North of UK.

But as pointed out as above ... if it's a stealth account then your chances are very slim.

I sold some whitehat stuff on eBay and paypal limited my account and my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ID failed. They then said they are 'initiated the closure of my paypal account' and it has £1,500 in there. Does this count as AUP? Am i certain to get my funds back after 180 days (it says on email)

File a federal temporary restraining/lawsuit order from yourself against your stealth account for $90,000 and certify mail it to PayPal.

Legally they have to pay you the balance

This is an interesting point, if you do it yourself it only costs about $400 to do, if you involve a lawyer they will milk you for billed hours and a $5,000 retainer

Someone I know used it with success on Amazon. I’m guessing it would work here as well

Unsure what you mean by this or how it would work?

This is NOT a stealth account.
