Transaction to Transferwise on hold for 72 hours
 
So I have a PayPal UK account which I got with using TalkU number and UK PostBox address. I am normally from Turkey which Paypal got out a few years ago. I have been making sales and wanted to transfer the PP money to Transferwise so that I can transfer it to my bank account. Paypal put the transaction on hold for 72 hours - it does not say it is a review or anything - it just says that the transfer is ongoing and I will receive it after 3 days. Is it some sort of a security concern of PP in case I don't ship the items? I marked them as shipped haven't added tracking numbers yet. And sometimes I buy and sell from Ebay so I cannot add tracking numbers and Paypal let me withdraw that money without any holds previously. What is the problem here? Do they always do these?

Usually that happens if PayPal is suspicious of 'something'; it can be anything. Maybe you are logged in with an unknown IP address. Maybe you're withdrawing too much at one time. Maybe it's recent funds in account. Maybe you had previous disputes so this hold has been added, etc.

In most cases the withdraw goes through without a problem though.

Thanks. I've seen some instances of Paypal holding transactions for 7 days - what is that for? I dropship in Ebay and sometimes I do it Ebay to Ebay so I cannot add a tracking number. Can that be a problem in Paypal transactions? Can it extend the hold period?

That's normal and after awhile that should stop. It's not a big deal.

I'd like to ask another question if that's alright. I do Ebay to Ebay dropshipping - so I usually don't add tracking numbers because Ebay or Paypal do not accept used tracking ID. Will these 72h holds last forever if I don't add tracking numbers? It says for security reasons when it holds.

i've experienced that with PayPal as well, there was even this one instance that they witheld my money for a whole 2 weeks (a pain in the arse) and I went on to ask PayPal customer support regarding this (don't even bother, it's a waste of time) and they basically said that the money I was receiving was higher than the average amount that I received over the past few months, etc, etc. they told me to avoid this in the future, I just need to contact the customer to confirm the order. i didn't follow that though, I went ahead and searched how to be an 'authorized seller' in paypal, upgraded to a Paypal business account (its free) and I haven't had the problem ever since.

That is absolutely fine when you either made a big transfer from a fresh account, or just had the TW itself added recently. In 99% cases these go through just fine.
