Default Is opening a DBA worth the trouble and money?

Is opening a DBA account worth the time and money? I checked into it and its going to be about $250.00 or more to do this. But from what ive read in here when/if PP asks for your info you just have to show them your business name on the acc. and not an actual persons name and info. Is this correct? If this is correct my thinking is this DBA acc might be cheaper than trying to come up with and ID and other info that is required from pp when/if they check. Any thoughts or am I misunderstanding something.

I recently had a PayPal account limited and even though I provided LLC documents from the IRS that included a Tax ID#/EIN, I was still required to provide SSN and a copy of a drivers license.

Since my own personal information is blacklisted, I used a friend's information, with his permission, to remove the limitation. In fact, the PayPal account was his to begin with anyway. I speculate this could be why we were required to provide SSN on top of the EIN - the account wasn't set up as a business account from the get go.

Other forum members have reported success at removing limitations without providing the SSN but in my case it was unavoidable. I suspect YMMV depending on the products you sell and whether or not eBay and PayPal considers it high risk.

The thing with the DBA is a great idea. So, PayPal asks for a SSN and you provide your DBA's EIN number. But what are you going to do when they ask for a drivers license? Make a copy of your own? Photoshop the picture? Name? License number? Things get kinda sketchy at that point, don't they?
