Strange paypal limitation
 

I logged in to my account to discover that there is a limitation in my account. I even did not receive any notification email about that!

it does not ask me to upload anything like ID tracking .... etc

I called a rep and even he and his supervisor were not able to know what is going. They told just allow some time


In limitation section it only says the following:

(Your account access is temporarily limited


Some of your account features will be blocked until this matter is resolved.
Reference ID: PP-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx

Probably a delay in their system which I have experienced with Amazon so probably similar to PP this time of the season.

I'm guessing they'll be asking for documents soon. And the email will come within 48 hours.

But Limitation has already taken effect. I am unable to withdraw or send payments. In addition, they transferred all my available balance to "on hold" even though balance is from multiple payments.

SaiJin indicated that you might have to wait a bit longer to see what pp wants to reinsitate the account....if possible.

After 4 days... nothing changed. Account still limited. No email received.. No info to provide.

Then it's not a temp limitation...

You have other accounts to work with correct?

Yes I do have backup accounts. But I really wonder what is going on... They limit my account without requesting any docs or info. They didn't limit me permanently either. Even Reps are unaware why I am having this issue in my account. I have been using paypal since 2008 and first time something like this happens to me.

Wait it out and spend your energy into your sales volume with other accounts.

Same thing. My account is still limited all available balance transferred to ON HOLD.

I spoke to many senior agents and supervisors and all of them are unable to provide reason or explanation on why I am having this issue.

MyPayPal is strong with hundreds of transactions with almost zero disputes. So this is for sure is not related to any of the regular selling limitations we know.

I had one angry customer who explicitly threatened to make complaint against me. Next day I had this weird limitation. I don't know what he has done or what authority he has contacted to do that for me.



What baffles me more is why they didn't just permanently limit my account. why did they keep hanging like that? what are they waiting for

Ah.. did you have an open case which you were fighting? It seems the more you fight the higher chance your account is limited, especially with digital items.

I remember few weeks ago I had a such limitation. What happened is that I had received a payment few days earlier from an account. That account got limited and at the same time I got the limitation.
I called paypal few times, and the Operator said, there must be a system failure.
Nothing was asked.
Few days later, the case was closed.
2 weeks later, I got 180 days ban.
Paypal is really sometimes difficult to understand...
Just move on.

Yes the angry buyer opened a case. but i closed it instantly by refunding him in full. Actually I clearly asked the reps if this limitation has to do anything with my recent cases. and they mentioned no.

I mean Having 2 cases ( not even escalated into claim and closed by me by issuing refund) out of 250 transactions is really acceptable rate of cases.

this is the main reason i've strayed far away from Paypal and left the service altogether. i know this directly affected my sales, but I will not go through the exact same crappy process of sending documents, verifying my stuff, and contacting back and forth with customer rep to GET MY MONEY. I've generated over $17,000 according to their records, they, of course, got a huge chunk of that and they still held my money for more than a month. such a terrible service with an equally awful customer rep

It's these kind of crappy service that really hurts - heavily influenced by the "few" users that have abused and defrauded other ppl via PP

To give you an update regarding the issue. Restriction was due to court order to freeze the funds available in my account.

Luckily they froze only $160
