Hello there,

I have an old USA PP account and I have around $320 on it. When logging in it asks me for phone number etc.

I'm guessing it has a 2 step aut login?
And you don't have the phone number anymore?

Do you still remember the number?

I am not 100% sure but I guess I have the details which I put in the account ... but it will not let me pass through the phone number verification, however I am able to put any number in as far as I can see

No panic.

Pp only requested for any real USA sim number for verification, then afterwards you'll be grant access if you input the OTP they'll send to that number.

VOIP will not work.

Advice is to get a friend or someone here in USA for an active number.
Again, if you successfully pass this, go on your 2-auth using an authenticator app like Google authenticator. It will replace your otp instead of phone number.

I tried a valid US number now but it directs me to help page to contact paypal :/ ....
is there any chance? I am willing to handover login details for one to try if serious about it

I checked several pages from google to receive usa sms ... I am not 100% sure if it worked but the paypal page then brought me to the support/contact paypal page ... I am not sure what to do now or if the funds are gone forever

OP, I had this problem with a Canada Paypal last week and I was really surprised how easily I was able to get around it. For a brief moment I thought I'd lost access to the account.

and choose one of the numbers
Put the number in Paypal, they send a code, you refresh the phone number page and get your code. Viola, problem solved. I don't know about the USA section of the site but the Canada side is almost exclusively verification texts from Paypal. There has to be thousands of users with the same phone number on file now. I wasn't too concerned about that since I have very little use for these Paypals since MP anyway. :noidea:

I can't tell if you're in exactly the same boat I was but it sounds like you are.


PS: not trying to spam this site.. it just happens to be the site that fixed my problem.

The USA side of that website I posted also has tons of verification texts from Paypal, and the "thanks for confirming" message you get after you're successfully verified the code they send. Probably works.

Let me know if what I suggested works out for you OP. I'm not sure how you can be expected to call in to USA Paypal from the Netherlands. You are in the wrong country to get past this by calling in.

I am outside of USA unfortunately and can not call with a US number ... thank you all for your help so far! Will try if the sms thing works

You're better off calling them than emailing but you can do both.

You can also try calling and tell them you're out of the country right now but want to get this resolved asap.

You can buying real sim card US and register it the same paypal name.
