PayPal US "Chat with us while logged out"
 

Hi,

I do not see this option when not logged in for the past couple of months. I am unable to login to my PayPal (US) account and I do not have the phone number associated with the account anymore.

When I try to reset the password I get the "quick security check" request to send code via SMS.

In the past I have unlocked my account using "Chat with us while logged out" feature but I cannot see that anymore.

Does anyone know how to make the option "Chat with us while logged out" appear?

I've never seen that link on any of my accounts.

For what it's worth though I had the same problem a month or two ago with two different Canada Paypals and was able to get through it using a number from https://smsreceivefree.com/

Just checking through the message history for any of the numbers displayed on that site, it quickly becomes clear that hundreds of Paypals have bypassed 2FA using this service.

Thanks for the reply @phaz0rz, unfortunatley I cannot use an SMS forwarding service as I can't change the number listed on the account without logging in. Chicken and Egg situation.

They aren't giving you the option to add another number?

They seem to have really relaxed their security because in the past you'd have to add a new number then wait a few months to be able to use it for verification texts. Now, with both accounts I had this problem with, they let me enter a new number and receive the confirmation text immediately after putting in my user/pass.

You will need to ring them and they can update the phone number via the phone for you

Can you call them and see if you'll get lucky enough to get a rep that'll help?
