negative balance on stealth account do i pay it ?
 

hello everyone

ive been lurking for a while now and have had some intersting reads, but now i have a question of my own that i would imagine hasnt ever arrisen on here

i sold an item on my stealth paypal account to someone in america (im in the uk)

he wanted to return it so i accepted the return but paypal paid him back to the tune of $4000 before the item arrived

then as if by magic the item did a U turn straight back to america so that the buyer now has the item and his money and i have a negative balance that paypal are chacing me for

i appealed and they acknowlwdged that the buyer has the item and the cash but say they kept to the user aggremenrt and refuse to do anything about it

i thought that they would instruct the buyer to resend the item, but no they just let him keep it

so what do i do here...???

do i tell them to get lost as it is a stealth account..??

or do i pay it as they might be able to trace me through the bank account on the stealth account and they carry on pestering me..??

They are not going to get to you from your bank account for a small balance like that. They could try to withdraw they funds from the bank account though.

Do you feel you should pay it? If your Guts says you owe it, then Follow your gut may be a good choice.

How did you withdraw the money? is this account using somebody else info , or complete ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info?

completely made up details.....thou i did add my address as a second address to get the item returned

unfortunatly didnt know i would end up in this situation

yankee i did withdraw it to my own bank account but then transfered it to my current account so the bank account associated with that paypal account is currently empty

i dont feel i owe it to them as i have no way of getting my item returned from america so why should i give the ££££ to paypal

they made their choice

You can always close the bank account. Then there is zero chance of withdrawing or bringing the account negative. Im not sure if they even do that anymore or if that was a thing in the UK at any time.

yeah this is what i suspected

but these jokers have let the buyer keep the item and are chacing me for the money so i end up with nothing

surely there must be some kind of legal argument i have got...??

i was hoping that someone on here would read this thread that has been in the same situation and give me some insight as to how they took paypal on

they gave the guy his money before waiting for the item to arrive

its paypals fault and im the one who has to swallow it

I dont know how bill collections work in the UK, but the USA, the name, address, and tax number need to match to have any sort of result. They can send letters, send someone to your door and ask for the person who owns the debt, but if that person doesn't exist?

Maybe in the UK, it is that easy to sue/collect/damage credit but it isnt that way in the USA.

i have been reading a few other forums where people have had paypal run rings around them.....purposfully

also how do you take out a lawsuit against a company in the stealth name of a person that doesnt exist....lol

if you have stealth paypal account, stealth bank attached, stealth phone attached 0 problem for you, even if you have negative 10,15,20K$ balance. within 3-6 months paypal will sold your negative balance to collection agency... after that you must receive email from collection agency and of course collection agency will attempt call daily to mobile phone number attached to your paypal account. they can even call to SSN (attached to paypal) owner phone number, but he is on safe side also. ssn owner will tell them that he never open this paypal account. so no way.. they can't do anything....

this works only with stealth info...

but the bank account attached to the stealth account is in my name.....

i wonder if there is a way that paypal can demand the correct name and address of the bank account holder..??

It goes like this

1. PayPal send the letter/power to the debt collector they have contract in your country.

2. If the debt collector can't find your info they call back to PayPal

3. PayPal will usually do an IP search and send all the results back to the debt collector.

4. Debt collectors will further harash you , call police etc

I know they do this in Romania, 100%.

Most likely by

1. the law of the country
2. how much willing the debt collector wish to put

here in romania they can harash and collect even for 25$, paris where most people africans...and on drugs... i think they have a hard time job

CALL POLICE....i assume you mean they do that because they realise they are dealing with a stealth account and they want the police to track down the real owner of the account...????

no they dont.....but not really sure where we are in a legal position with having a stealth account go into negative balance and not settling the balance

do they concider that fraud because the pp account isnt in your name...???

there a quite a few unknowns here

If you didn't add your real address i would have told you don't give a $$IT about PP. I had thousands of dollars in negative balance. 20K ? Maybe more. but accounts were 100% stealth. so there was no way for them to reach me lol

If stealth details were used then no worries. That paypal account is done though. It will go to a debt collections agency thats all. I have had plenty paypals in negative balance from buyer trying to scam me and i refused to refund them. Time to go stealth again
