Can PayPal Tell If It's A Checking or Savings?
 

I have a pretty unique question. I'll ask it it two parts.

1. Can PayPal tell if the bank I'm adding is a checking or savings?
2. Can I add a savings as checking and vise versa without any problems adding the bank or withdrawing funds to the bank?

I'm asking this because PayPal is asking for a copy of my bank statement on a stealth account, The bank I'm adding is a checking account however I only have access to a savings account statement which I will properly adjust to accommodate. If PayPal can't which type of bank it is I would say it's safe to assume it doesn't matter. But then again I don't know how bank will act receiving the funds. Please share your thoughts on this?

P.S. the savings statement is legit, I don't know what an actual checking statement look like so no I can not just edit the savings to be a checking.

Let's re-ask the question because after reading it myself I think I'm confusing you guys.

You know the section where paypal ask you to manually enter your bank details, and they make you to select if the bank you're adding is a "savings" or "checking" account. Well my questions is, Can I add my bank account as a savings account on paypal, even though in reality it is actually a checking account? and vise versa Can I add the bank on paypal as a checking account even though it is actually a savings account issued by the bank?

Is there a way paypal can verify and then would go

"Wait a minute, this guy listed this bank as a checking account, and also gave a bank statement saying it's a checking account but we can see that this is actually a savings account."

Or is there no way paypal can see or confirm any of those things?

Paypal does not care if it is checking or saving.
It works the same,at least in USA

No, it'll be fine, but either way I don't see a reason why you wouldn't just want all info to match... it's more peace of mind this way, no?

Yes, but there's scenarios where I have to do things differently such as the scenario I gave in the original post.

I still think you'll be fine . The only time they'll get your banking info is when they withdraw from your bank, not deposit to.

I'm sure you aren't doing this, so you should be fine.

If it works like the UK system they can tell if an account is a current or a savings account just from (in the UK we have something called a sort code) I expect the routing number in the US may give them the same info.

If its a current account just add it as a current account they wont see the name
