in the US, is it illegal to use ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and address for paypal?
 

I want to pay for something without using my real name or address. I plan to pay using a private prepaid debit card processed through paypal. I don't know what name to give paypal. I have been thinking about this for 2 weeks. I don't want to commit a crime. I don't like problems. If I give a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name, ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, ⊗⊗⊗⊗ phone number, would that constitute a crime in the US?
just so we are clear: I can't care less about paypal's TOS. I can' care less if they close my account. is it a crime, meaning can you be criminally charged for it?

A made up identity used for purchases isn’t illegal. Some banks even give you disposable cards to use online to protect your identity. There’s even a service called privacy that gives you virtual disposable cards for purchases. Can literally make up any name to make a purchase legally.

But using someone’s real identity without their permission to make purchases is illegal. It’s called identity theft.

virtual cards from banks and privacy.com are meant to 1) prevent your real card number from being stolen and 2) make sure they don't take more than what they say. it's not to hide your identity.

It’s about having privacy shopping online. Why do you think the website is called “privacy”.

And using a made up name is not illegal. But knowingly using someone’s else real identity is illegal.. that should answer your question.

thanks, but why does this feel so wrong to me? if paypal wasn't a financial institution I wouldn't care. I would give a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name to ebay gladly.

For purchases it’s okay.. but when you plan on selling then it becomes a issue
