Are Wise.com accounts still good for PayPal withdrawals? Any issues with Wise accounts being flagged as dodgy to PayPal and having any effect on account trust?

Thank you. Yes, PayPal accounts from South Africa can only add US$ based bank accounts so I want to use my Wise.com US bank account to withdraw funds regularly from PayPal. PayPal account is genuine details, not a stealth account. Wise.com account is also full genuine details and not any stealth

I can withdraw money from my Paypal UK account to my Wise UK account without any problems. so it seems to be working.

Just so you know, it's always better with a real bank instead of a virtual one like Wise.

like eBay eventually it'll stop working most likely so be prepared no matter what

There is nothing wrong with South African banks. Unfortunately PayPal only allows a US bank to be added for South African accounts. I assume it is something to do with the fact that the South African currency (the Rand) is not a supported currency on PayPal. Or it may be something to do with the fact that South Africa has extremely inflexible foreign exchange regulations, perhaps PayPal not willing to bend to the local regulations and therefore cannot establish an "official" presence in the country and allow local bank accounts. Not 100% sure on the reason, but the fact is whilst we can receive money into our PayPal accounts without any issues, a South African bank account cannot be added to PayPal and we can only add a US$ denominated bank account. So virtual banks such as Wise are the only option for us until hopefully something changes and local South African bank accounts can be added.

Yes, I am fully aware of that. Unfortunately a real bank is not possible as our local banks cannot be added and South African accounts can only add a US$ denominated bank account so the only options are virtual banks such as wise.

I know that virtual banks are more likely to stop working the same way Payoneer accounts used to work fine for PayPal withdrawals but are no longer accepted on PayPal. That is why I wanted advise from other members to ensure Wise is still an accepted bank at this time.

Are there are any larger global banks accessible to you there for seeing if they have US bank affiliate setup possible?

Then the only thing you can do is try it with wise. Your options are limited for sure.

It’s possible to withdraw to SA banks, you just got to do it through an FNB online banking profile and linking it with PayPal. Of course there are currency conversions from USD to Rand, withdraw fees, etc.

Go to your PayPal Help page of your account and click on “How do I transfer money to my bank account?” faq.
