PayPal IP linking to Ebay??

I am going to play it safe for a while, and only log into ebay at "wi-fi" hotspots. I would however, like to log into PayPal at my own home. Does anyone know if this will be fine considering the IP address? I'm aware that ebay monitors the whole IP address thing, but I'm not sure about PayPal. Reason being, is after I make the sale on ebay, I need to log into PayPal to print my shipping labels. I have all the legit items(SS#, credit card, etc...) for a legit PayPal in someone else's name, I just need to be able to access it from my own house to print shipping labels. I'm not sure if PayPal could look at my IP address, and then determine it's not who it's supposed to be (like ebay does), and then tell ebay on me. Please advise...

I only hide my IP while using eBay. For Paypal, I always login through my real IP for months now and it's never caused any problems. Of course, my home ISP puts me under a dynamic IP (changes like once every few weeks) but I still don't think it should be an issue for anyone.

you should be aight...

Just to add to this, I also use the same IP address for different paypal accounts. Maybe in the future this may change...

I think with paypal and Ebay working so closely together It would be better to have different ips for every different PP or EB account. Just so play it save.

every time i log into 1 PP account then log out I generally clear all cookie and delete all file, and my current ip and note it down then would turn my modem off then on and to be sure that i get a new ip i run a ip check.

i tested this...i made like 4 accounts on the same IP within a few days without even using them they all got limited at the exact same time....coincidence? I think they are getting more strict

It would not make sense for paypal to link "bad" ips from ebay. I couldn't begin to imagine how many accounts would be closed because of that.

vers0 11-10-2007 03:32 AM

I'm up to 9 eBay/paypal accounts using the same IP address(PAYPAL). Of course eBay is special and gets a different IP for each account. I think Modee is right, if you give PayPal a reason to suspect you for anything, all accounts will most likely get the boot. I do not use the PayPal accounts. I just made them because eBay wants a Paypal account established for selling up to 10 feedbacks. I am creating more accounts because I think eBay will be changing things in the future and I want to be prepared. I'm hoping that eBay will grandfather existing accounts if major requirements are needed for new accounts.

True True.. I do think Ebay is going to do a major change soon. Alot of people is going to be in for a shock

aspkin 11-11-2007 12:05 AM

The only thing that could shock people is the requirement of a SS#, other then that what could they do?

Chris Hanson 11-11-2007 12:08 AM

Well they can deny the Giftcards like Paypal has started to do

vers0 11-11-2007 04:25 AM

I thins SS# will do enough damage!

How would they deny giftcards? They have no way to tell whether or not a CC is a gift card, do they?

Rosanna 11-22-2007 10:04 PM

I think eventually ebay will require all sellers to accept paypal.

imjustme 11-23-2007 12:59 AM

I'm always using the same IP range for eBay and PayPal. I wouldn't want to risk it just to try.

ebayhateluv 11-23-2007 01:58 AM

HI- keeping my fingers + toes crossed... running 8 diff ppal accts + 17 diff ebay accts at once. so long as i do not list an item my friendly competitor knows about-- im fine w ebay. got a grudge now-- every time they take down 1, i create 2...(well almost)--last week, lost 9 accts, made 14 more

Jonas 11-23-2007 12:13 PM

If the government would shut paypal down and then all ebay sellers would be free!
