| Bigglover | 05-16-2024 12:51 PM | SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator I got a questions! Does anyone know if I activate the 2 step verification authentication will it decline the likelihood of sms verification's from being triggered.
Example lets say you make a stealth account and customer support wants you to send a sms to the number on file of which you know longer have access to. If the 2 step authentication is activated will this be a valid option that the systems/algorithm use to alternatively verified you are the owner of the account. I have no experience with the 2 step verification so I don't know if this is a dumb question or not. https://i.imgur.com/oALlxBm.png |

| Bigglover | 05-16-2024 01:02 PM | Re: SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator Interesting, so in some cases It can prevent sms.
2 step verification added
Phone added & confirmed
Bank added & confirmed
Card added
Tax ID added
Security Questions Added
I'm wondering if all these would play a part in reducing the dreaded sms verification. Stealth would be so much easier if that is something we never had to worry about. |
| yobar | 05-16-2024 01:29 PM | Re: SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator In general you can use it for a while, but really at any time you will need to receive a text message. |
Re: SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator Welcome to the forum OP - all the best as you master stealth :thumb: |

| Mr_Blue_Sky | 05-21-2024 02:34 AM | Re: SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator I've used an authenticator on several types of accounts and never been asked for SMS verification since. Amazon, ebay, paypal, Wise, etc and not one SMS in at least two years.(Amazon must be five or more years)
That said, I would never allow my phone contract to expire and rely on it completely, that would be somewhat foolish. |

Foolish maybe, but a great alternative if you don't have access to a phone plan, is it not? |

Apart from a handful of impoverished third world outposts who doesn't have access to a phone nowadays? |
| murdered_by_ebay | 06-01-2024 10:05 PM | Re: SMS Verification VS 2 Step Verification Authenticator at least on paypal authenticator is not sufficient , it seems to be but in certain cases it does not help , this especially applies to cases when payments to new third parties are made or if phone or bank need to be replaced
so authenticator is an alternative but it allows only limited paypal use |

The phone argument is rather bogus given that OP it trying to negate that one entirely and TBH I doubt they would demand an SMS for changing bank details either. Authenticators are sold as a more secure way to protect access to your account, not a lesser one. |

On mobile phones after a few logins, I generally dont get asked for sms anymore when I have 2FA. (UK PP) |
