Not as Described claim - what if I Return to Sender??

So an idiot buyer trying to rip me off filed a "significantly not as described" claim and won. Now he has mailed it back and PP is going to refund his money once the tracking shows it was delivered.

He shipped it USPS First Class Mail, which may not even show as delivered once it gets delivered to me (which often happens to me when I ship First Class).

BUT, what if when I get the package I return it to sender? USPS "tracking system" may just cause it to show that it was never delivered - think that would work? I may try mailing something locally via First class and having it returned to sender to see what happens.

If it is sent back to you as it was when you sent it why would you do this?

Just consider it a loss and move on.

Nope, Paypal gave him the refund before the tracking even showed as delivered.

Apparently proof of shipping is enough for buyers and no delivery confirmation is even need; But when it comes to us sellers proof of shipping is not enough and if the item shows "shipped" but never shows delivered we're screwed.

I seriously cannot fathom why eBay/PP wants to f@ck over their sellers so bad. I mean we are the ones who actually give money to them not the buyers, without us they'd be out of business and with their "screw-over-seller" tactics getting worse all the time people are leaving eBay for craigslist like crazy. Which I assume they keeping raising the selling fees because they are getting less and less sellers, but what kind of a$$-hat seriously thinks that is a good business model??
