10 year old account asking for ID and business license
 

10 year old account, friend allowed me to use his info, all info is legit and his info, legit business. Don't use it much anymore, mostly use to pay. Sell a little on paypal.

Paypal asked to provide ID (I did this almost 10 years ago) and business license (not sure if I did this, I gave EIN though).

No idea what triggered this, I had a venmo account (owned by paypal) and used it to make my first payment two weeks ago that could be the reason or my guess is I reached some threshold and they want docs for tax purposes.

Good news is no money is in the account. Another one of my stealth account asked for docs when I got close to tax limit, I ignored it. A year later they reinstated it by me just asking.

I'll probably just ignore and see if in 2025 they just reinstate it. If I do submit docs, should I send stealth ID of friend? Do they verify ID? He gave me his real ID years ago to submit but it's expired and I have no idea where he is now. I had a few accounts with variations of my info banned (middle and last name, my address, etc.). Not sure if I want to send my real ID.

Any ID you submit should match the registration info of the account - if the ID has been used/banned before, you should not re-use it

I'd just ask your friend to give you a new updated ID and give it to them.
Not worth risking it since it's an old acc

This is the email they sent me. On second thought I think some thing is wrong. They wouldn't block account and ask for docs for no reason. ID I sent before. Can they see person's name on business license?

I would call in, but I know they are useless "send it or your account is blocked". Most of the time the account is already banned and they are just asking for docs to collect evidence to find your next account.

Friend is from college many years ago, international student, I have no idea where he is now.

Again he was an international student here from Australia a number of years ago and last I knew he moved back to Australia after college. I doubt he has a valid USA ID.

I'll try to talk my way out of it but we know that's highly impossible.

(1) should I just send a fak3 of his ID and my real business license, can they see my name on my business license?
(2) send my real ID. My middle and last name was banned and my SSN. Not sure if they will relink me on this account.

You are just going to need to get the ID even if its say creatively made. Without being able to contact him that is the only option you really have left

Just get creative - pay the money needed to get quality work done (within your budget of course)

sorry little offtopic, but how much is the 'tax limit'.
Is it 100% thing or assumption?

I think you should forget that account,Paypal never remove any account,closed or open,along with any bank or credit card linked to it.
