Buyer Protection with "request money" feature with paypal

hey guys,

I'd been searching for a rare item on ebay and finally found it the other day. The seller had the auction starting at $500 which i thought was very high... I contacted the buyer and she said she had several duplicates and that she could sell me one for $300.

I told her i only had $100 in my account and that it would take a few days for me to transfer the rest from my bank account to my paypal account...

She told me it was ok, and that she would use the "request money" feature on paypal, so she could send the request to my paypal account so i could pay it whenever the money cleared into my account. So i gave her my paypal address and sent me a request.

I asked her if she could make a BIN auction on ebay instead, but she said she didn't want to have to pay fees and such, which i understood...

So when the money cleared into my account from my bank account, i pressed the "pay" icon from the request, and the money went to her account.

Do i have any buyer protection or complaint protection having done the transaction this way? She didn't write the item name or anything in the title or description...

And the one in the ebay auction sold to someone else...

What if i get the package and there's nothing inside? Can i file a SNAD claim and win??

I know if i had "sent" the money to her through paypal i wouldn't have protection, but what about doing it this way having her send me a "request"?

Any insight appreciated!

If it's through paypal, you're covered under their buyer protection. You can open a dispute, which so many people to do us honest sellers without any need or regard for our business.

However it sounds like you should wait until you get ripped off before planning on it.
