Planning to sell expensive item; What IDs will Paypal be needing?
 

I am planning to sell a $1000 item on ebay, but I have some question regarding on the IDs that Paypal are going to ask from you, for recieving large amounts of fund.

What do they usually ask you to fax them when you receive a large payment for selling an item over ebay? I am using a Canadian Paypal account.

Also, the birthday on this account is incorrect; should I be concerned?

tbf, the amount hardly matters. If paypal wants to know about you & asks for ID that's it. It's actually a silly question. Use paypal for anything & anyone has to have enough info to prove to them you are who you are.:ranger:
Expect a bit of drama if you don't know the correct birthday. Look at it this way, who would use an account & not know their birthday? paypal ain't stupid. Muck that & take the consequences. :peace:

Each transaction is different: ID with name, address: utility bills. DL.
You may be asked for a receipt.

NB: this is a basic answer. Nothing is 100% since it involves paypal :peace:

Also, paypal red flags transactions over 250 dollars, and transactions that total more than 500 dollars in a 24 hour period. Canada paypal may be different, but in my experiences, canada paypal doesn't do a credit check. I would make sure your paypal account is fully verified with bank account and credit card, and making it into a business account helps a lot with limitations.

I DO know my correct birthday (obviously), but the one that was entered on the paypal account upon registration was incorrect. I am wondering if this is a major issue

Well if you don't know your real birthday, we have problems. LOL. Of course I meant the birthday for the account,doh. :peace: Don't get the huff. Sometimes you can glide by. But if they ask for ID, how are you going to do that?

Have you any way of finding the birthday? What happened that it is wrong

If you know what birthdate was used on the account then it all depends on whether you can prepare the docs ;)

I think it is safest to assume that you will get a limitation and that you will need to provide photo ID, proof of address, supplier info etc.
