Rolling Reserve with paypal

I Have a rolling reserve with paypal which has 5k locked up in it and they hold it for 90 days. Im wondering if i can get this reserve removed i don't have any claims and i rarely get claims and if i do get them its due to custom delays and lost packages. I sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗ dvd's and my supplier is dhgate so should i call them or just suck it up?
thanks

You can try but we did not get any where with them. After about a year with one of our merchant accounts we were hit with a 3% rolling reserve. If you think about it after the 90 days PayPal is paying you back so if you sales are steady you really don't notice it.

I just got the letter today from Paypal, stating they're taking $500 out of my balance and then holding 5% from every sale from this point forward. They say the funds will be released in 90 days. I'll post the letter below. Looks like my crappy credit was a major contributing factor, according to them. (I didn't know Paypal runs credit whenever they feel like it!)

Dear xxx:

During a recent review of your PayPal account the determination was made
to apply a collateral and rolling reserve to the account beginning
02/17/2010.

A collateral amount of $500.00 will be set aside from your current
available balance as of the above date. Additionally a rolling reserve
will be set at 5% of the processed amount for each day, to be held for a
90 day rolling period beginning on the above date.

An example of a Rolling Reserve: 5% of the payments you receive are held
at the end of the first day and will be released on day 05/17/2010, 5%
of your payments are held at the end of the second day and will be
released on day 05/18/2010, and so on.

The decision regarding your reserves setting was based on the review of
the risk exposure inherent to your account and was made in part from
information obtained through the consumer reporting agency identified
below. A risk review is the evaluation of several factors related to an
account, which include but are not limited to transactional activity,
customer disputes, type of business, credit attributes, delivery and
customer satisfaction time frames.

Reserves are funds that belong to you, but are set aside to ensure your
account can cover transaction liabilities. You will be notified if your
reserve settings are adjusted in the future.

Sincerely,

Kevin

Do you purchase the dvd's with the same paypal or use a different method because I know paypal is quite aware of the dvds sold on dhgate.

I do, probably not the smartest huh?

I wanted to use Paypal as I don't trust the sellers over there. If I setup a seperate PP account for payment, it's all just going to be linked back to me anyways I suppose. I could just start using my regular debit card out of my checking account for purchases there.

Thanks for the thought!

I have several Paypal accounts that I use just to buy stuff with from China. They are just accounts with made up names and info but I fund them with the MoneyDot Green Paks that you can buy at Walmart. Since these Green Paks are run by Paypal when you fund a account using one of these cards it doesn't seem to trigger any flags in there system. Now the most I have ever tried was $1800 at once with no problems. I figured if I ever had to file a claim due to non receipt I could just make the account verified using 2 of 3 methods. Not using the SSN# of course. Any body using this method??
