Selling a car through paypal

If a person were to buy a car from me and i ship it to another address that he provided instead of the one on his account , would it be possible for this guy to claim that i didnt ship the car even after he has title and he registers the car? and wonder if paypal will give him back his money and allow him to keep the car?

No i did not ship it just wanted to know if that could happen?

it wouldnt surprise me with paypal.... buyers can add a different shipping address on their paypal, make sure you cover yourself as it would be a lot of money to lose

It would be better to do a bank transfer since ebay allows that form of payment in the automotve section.

The good thing about a car is that its something that will have to be registered again and if someone pulled a stunt like that on me it would be very easy for the cops to trace and investigate.

Better to get cash on collection if possible though.

Luckily there are US federal laws that would make his life a misery if that was tried. Should paypal be involved there would be terrible repercussions for them as well. Remote chance of it happening but one never knows.

Car sales should be via bank transfer, escrow or cod

paypal do not provide buyer protection anything with a engine
so you will be fine - but i would not recommend getting such large amounts of money in one payment

i sold a bunch of cars on ebay, i DO NOT and WILL NOT accept large payments for a car in paypal. My last car I sold for $11k and I told the guy the transaction much be made at the bank.

Someone is buying a car from u and they aren't wanting to see the car in person? Sounds suspicious to me...

There was or still is a famous scammer in one of those old russian countries than use adds from like Auto Trader etc to put on adds of these under 7000$ cars with instructions to wire the money to the bank of ebay account and then the car would be released from ebays warehouse to be shipped to you. The guy made millions from cars that didn't exist.
