My little guide to using PayPal..

I've been using PayPal again since a few months and have found the following things I think may be helpful to others who are using PayPal and would like to avoid being limited. Note that I live in Asia, not in the US, so this may or may not apply to US PayPal accounts. Either way, it'll definitely help international PayPal users.
  • I always leave $100-$180 in the PayPal account. It's an amount I can afford to lose if the account gets limited or suspended, but it has helped, in my experience, from being limited.

I have one account on which I have always withdrawn everything except for a few cents. After reaching about $3000 after 2 months, I was limited. I have another 2 active accounts in which I always leave $100-$180 (depending on what I sell, more for higher sales, less for smaller ones). I have until today withdrawn $8000 on one and over $6000 on the other without ever having been limited by PayPal. And note this is to a "high-risk" country, as all countries in Asia apparently are for PayPal.

I think they will not pay close attention to those accounts because there is sufficient balance to cover a few refunds if something happens.
  • If you get suspended and you get new orders in through eBay, apologize to the customers, tell them you can't accept PayPal at the moment and refund their payment immediately. Also refund any payments for shipments you haven't sent out yet.

On the account that was limited, I refunded about $800 through PayPal on the same day it was limited. It seems to count big towards your honesty and will definitely help you get unlimited. I know it did for me. Within a day I was unlimited and selling again, never suspended again since.

I hope this helps a bit. I'll add more things as I find them out :)

Even though I'm in the US, I think that leaving $100 or so thing may help quite a bit. Before I would move all $ every time it entered PP, but they quickly suspended me for "suspicious activity".

whoa. thats actually good useful info :)
as im in the process of making a 4th account, just got myself a business name, virtual phone number, virtual address, and tomorrow going to open up a bank account

Not sure if it matters but I also leave a few bucks in there to do refunds. I have done some refunds and this may also make the account look legit. I think constantly transferring every penny all the time looks suspicious.

Yeah, I'm thinking now that everyone is paranoid and transfers every cent out of PayPal immediately, it makes them look suspicious and gets them suspended.

Just to confirm, I think the leaving $100-$200 in the account seems to be working. I'm now withdrawing about $300 per day since almost 2 weeks on a brand new account (less than 1 month old) without being suspended. Similar on other 3 other accounts I have with PayPal.

INteresting... I had a New acct, never got to the point of a debit card on it to withdraw, and I took in like 4-5 sales, $29-$49 each, then paid i think 2 sellers, $50 each, and paid ebay fees twice, $50-$75, then got limited, I did this on 2 new accts, then went to ccnow, have to wait, but at least the moneys mine, with no fear of holding for 180 days....(I have 2 paypla accts now since last weds on limitation, I transferred 3 times to an older ppal acct- under 300, under 300 and under 400 in a week)-- then i would go to atm, get the cash from the older acct. they limited BOTH accts weds, still on hold, now they each have over $500 in them.

I find that hard to believe..lol

I'm surprised by it myself, believe me. One account I've now withdrawn over $15000 in 3 months. It was limited onec after about $3000 (see one of my earlier threads here) and they asked for shipping confirmation. I didn't send the items with a courier, so I couldn't provide it. Then they asked for inventory proof, I sent them photos. Then they asked for receipts of purchase, so I sent them that (just plain cheap paper bills) and they unlimited the account within 1 day. I said sorry and that I would from now on send everything with a tracking number (which I do now, just in case) and always leave around $200 in the account. Since then I've withdrawn over $12,000 more (after the initial $3000) and never got limited again. Note this is on an account with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name, too.

Bank book and card are in my sister-in-law's name. I'm going to have her open more bank books for me this week, I think she's blessed or something :D

IMJUSTME are your Paypal accounts China or Japan based or is it a regular US Paypal account?

imjustme 11-27-2007 08:13 AM

All from Japan. I don't know where the actual account gets created, but I just select Japan from the list when I create the account. I think it's ruled by PayPal's Singapore headquarters for Asia? Maybe they're a bit less strict than the US.
