New Paypal Verification Method?

So I just tried to send money from one of my stealth accounts and ran into a new type of verification Ive never dealt with before...
It asked me to verify I am the owner of the account by answering questions it generated from public records. Now all the info on this account is stealth so I have no idea how to answer these.
Has anyone else encountered this new verification method?

never heard..maybe it doesnt recognize yer computer..who knows..i sent money today from 2 stealth and didnt get that

slokor 03-31-2010 10:34 PM

Yes it did mention not recognizing my computer.
I dont use seperate user accounts. Just dont allow flash cookies on my computer and delete cookies etc.
But Ive never seen this type of verification before. Ive seen it a couple of times on ebay but never on paypal.
Guess its time to set up a couple of hundred user accounts... lovely...
Anyone else out there run into this situation?

slokor 03-31-2010 11:55 PM

By the way the messege I get after this verification fails is that I need to contact them because they could not verify I am the owner of the account.
BUT
The account does not get limited. I am just unable to send payments...
Strange...

slokor 04-01-2010 02:44 AM

Ok this has now happened to several more of my accounts. They do not get suspended but I cannot use them to send payments now. On a couple of them they didnt even bother asking me questions (guess they couldnt find anything to ask cause all the info is made up) - they just told me they cannot confirm I own the account.
Again - none of these is limited.
This should worry anyone out there selling verified paypal accounts on this forum. If you cannot prove your the 'owner' of the account it will be useless and since the information they ask for is pretty complex (like what car did you use to own or property owner in other cities... weird stuff).
Im surprised Im not seeing more people who are encountering this situation...

bmwsouthside 04-01-2010 10:35 AM

I sent payments between paypal accounts and the money is not in either account. both accounts are banned. its been 7 days. paypal asked to run my credit to verify who I am. I told them to kiss my azzz in 10 ways.

bmwsouthside 04-01-2010 10:36 AM

more of the same or similar

They are coming up with new ways to screw us daily. Looks like april is the month they are rolling out the new bs to try to hold our money hostage.

slokor 04-01-2010 11:07 AM

This is not the same situation Im talking about.
The accounts in question do not get limited.
If I fail the verification process im just unable to send payments. Apparently I am still able to withdraw the money into my bank account.
Im just unable to use them now to send payments.
I just got an email response from paypal. Pretty generic. Stated that this is a new security measure and that they randomally select people to test this way. Stupid customer service didnt even mentioned how to resolve the situation though...
Again I ask - has anyone else out there encountered this situation?

bmwsouthside 04-01-2010 11:10 AM

no. but again, they are coming up with new things to fight us everyday. obviously they do anything they can to slow us down. im seeing new things every week now.

It could mean that if your identity is not verified, they'll eventually limit or close you down. Without SS#, generating questions based on public records can't be accurate. If they have your SS #, they can run a credit report on you and then ask you questions based on its contents such as "did you ever pay mortgage on property in Cleveland?"

doughboykilla 04-01-2010 12:36 PM

Its not really safe to send money from a stelth paypal to a real one any way it works but over time Pp puts the puzzle togather and relize your the same person and i can bet the reason they want to verfiy u in the first place is cause they figerd out u was sending money from one Pp to another.

slokor 04-01-2010 02:33 PM

The accounts in questions NEVER sent a payment to one of my real accounts.
I use them to pay for various items. A couple of them never sent a payment.
A couple of others sent one payment each to seperate people.
A couple more paid for 3-4 ebay items each.
This verification happens even if I type a non existant email address in the payment field.
So no it has nothing to do with linking the accounts together.
It has everything to do with using the same computer over time - meaning user accounts which I am now in the process of openning. Its a major pain the butt cause I have over 200 accounts at this point...
When I receive the messege about not being confirmed as the owner the options given to me at that point are to either contact them or try to log in to the account from the computer that is usually used for this account - sounds like a user account issue to me.
Im just surprised that not more people have run into this type of verification. Maybe Im just very unlucky...

I have run into it on Ebay, but not on Paypal. You can do a google search on the name and address and phone number used and you will find some of the answers. The rest just pick the answer I don't know. I find if you get at least one correct it should let you pass. The best one to guess on is a location question. You can usually narrow it down to 2 choices so you have a 50% chance.

I had eBay ask for verification with a list of questions based on public record. I answered them all correctly, and was suspended the next day due to account linkage. I am a bad example, because I didn't cover my tracks very well when creating new accounts.

If its a stealth account it's going to be "non of the above"

not to disagree.... but if they didn't link it with something on a public database, they would just flat out ask for ID

lorddamax 04-21-2010 07:19 PM

My last ebay ID I used a made up name and my work address.

They wanted me to call and asked me those public info questions. All three I asnwered none of the above. They said thanks! And unlimited me.

Was weird.

Then they nailed me 12 days later for account linking.

Oh well. Trying again, this time the smart way :)

???

so whats the answer to this thread, where are the big guys who know the answer?

slokor 04-24-2010 02:07 AM

Well I think this thread has gone a bit offtopic...
I started it by saying there is an isue with paypal verifying accounts now in a similar way to the way they verify ebay accounts.
I guess I am the only one who has encountered this situation though.
The probelm was solved by me switching to using user accounts. Now all the cookies and flash cookies match and Im never asked to verify myself on Ebay or paypal. Loving it.
