Paypal Seller Protection

which way of receiving funds with paypal is the most safe for a seller?? invoice? request money? telling buyer to send the funds? as a gift? etc. enlightenment please!

maybe I'm wrong, but there is no 100% way to stop a charge back if that's the question.

Only thing that stops a charge back is time. If its a tangible product you ship, tracking helps in the fight. But no matter how they pay, they can charge back...

If you meant safe from PayPal placing a hold on the money, nothing is foolproof. Some things work SOMETIMES. But, generally speaking, I think most people are subject to the 21 day holds at some point.

PayPal's problem is essentially that they are providing merchant account services without actually qualifying anyone for a merchant account. Therefore, there is more risk for them. So, they try all kinds of things to limit their risk.

When I applied for a merchant account, they needed everything but my baby pictures and a stool sample. PayPal validates people much easier than that.

Go along with the 21 day holds and supply tracking numbers for everything. Once they see you are on the up and up, the holds should be removed.

i'm not asking to stop a charge back 100% i know that. im just asking what is the way to give the seller the most protection...like stated in the original question..........

Always enter the tracking number into PayPal's system when you ship. If the item is worth more than you can afford to lose, you should insure it.

That sometimes stops bad buyers, since if they claim an item is damaged, they would have to file a claim with the shipper.

But the scammers know this. They will complain the item was not as described or counterfeit. Then, they send you back an empty package (or substitute a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ item for a real one, or send you a broken item and keep the working one). As long as they have their "proof" that it was returned, PayPal will side with them - even if they send you a pile of dog***t in the box.

Sorry I can't be more positive, but this is PAYPAL we are talking about...

Short answer: Nothing

All you can do is try your best to protect yourself. Tracking and insurance. The rest is, and always will be, up to PayPal

No certain way of payment makes a difference on a charge back. If buyer uses a credit card they have more option to go direct to card company for a charge back.

But what you are asking is what way is best... Doesn't mater. Period. There is always a charge back option with paypal.

no one really understands my question huh? im asking about what i just stated in post #7

pod 06-28-2010 05:06 PM

Ok, very short answer... NOTHING IS BETTER

SelfMade17 06-28-2010 05:11 PM

right. i believe your wrong though. cause theres a difference between all of them..
but thanks for your thoughts.

pod 06-28-2010 05:16 PM

Well I can certainly be wrong. Nothing new on that front...

but if there was a form of payment "scam proof" everyone would use it, all the time.

SelfMade17 06-28-2010 05:25 PM

I've been saying not scam Proof..but it helps protect the seller more then any other payment..
