Default Buying Pricey Items with PayPal

Is there a safe way to buy high-priced items with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ PayPal (PP) account? My original PP account had been used to pay for items with an ebay account that was shut down, so I need to get another one to buy on ebay. Most of the items I buy are around $1000, but I'm guessing this sets off some Red Flags... I know I need to have the new account 'Confirmed' with PP since most sellers wont ship to an address that is not.

I would like to avoid PP, but alot of the people I buy from a new sellers that have been brainwashed to only accept PP.

Any ideas?

Hmm...I'm pretty sure your PP account confirms the address once you add a "credit card"...I just hope they don't limit the seller's account because even though your address will be confirmed, you still won't be verified until you add a bank account as well.

You'll need a new banking account the last time I checked to get the confirmed status. I would try ING savings accounts, as you can create unlimited savings accounts and use that to open confirmed Paypal accounts.

Use a giftcard to verify your account.

Oh cool, so I would be able to 'Confirm' and 'Verify' my new PP account! So, since I shouldn't attach a CC to that PP account, do I have to get a gift card any time I want to pay for something? EX: I win a $1200 item, I have to get a gift card (wait 24hrs) and then pay for it via PP?

Lastly, is there any risk at all of PP freezing the money I'm paying with, since no money actually sits in my PP account? But I guess even if they froze it I could just wait 180 days to get it back (that would suck though...)

Thanks Aspkin and OMB for the tips!

I found: ING DIRECT - Save Your Money! It looks like that is what he was talking about. I have to admit, I like the idea of being able to open unlimited savings accounts without having to leave my home.
