They want loads of infos...

Hi! my Paypal account was limited yesterday when I tried to withdraw 24$ to my bank account. They email me saying that I was a high risk customer (yeah 24$ is a risky business) and they wanted me to send them docs, here's the email:

Please complete the steps below so that we may review your
account further:

Upload or fax a copy of your driver's license/passport. Please make the
copy of this as large and as light as possible.

The tracking information that you have provided us shows that some
merchandise is currently in transit. Please contact us again once all the
tracking information shows the items have been delivered.

Upload or fax copies of the original bills of sale or invoices referencing
your purchase or acquisition for the iPod Touchs you are selling. An
invoice is an original bill of sale referencing where you purchased or
acquired the item(s) you are selling along with the name and telephone
number of your supplier. We need to know where you are purchasing the items
that you are selling. Please fax in this information to our office as soon
as possible for further review.

Upload or fax contact information (phone number, email, etc.) for your
supplier(s)
Do I really need to fax them all that doc or would they automatically unlimit my account when the items are delivered??

Did they limit your account because Ipod items set off alarm bells with Ebay?

topazcorp 01-17-2008 10:13 PM

No, my eBay account is doing fine. I guess it's because I have more than 1000$ in my Paypal account, that's the first time it reach that high. I was afraid to withdraw the whole ammount so I tried with 24$.. bad idea!

Paypal's gonna get the INFO no matter the amount.. they store everything.. (to later hold it against you, i feel)--
do they need all that to unlimit you---YES + in a few months, they will get you again if youre doing any kind of volume..
--DO NOT feel bad- its not you--- its their anti-fraud risk control software limiting everyone..
---only way to get away from this-- open your own merhcant acct--alot of guys here have alot of ideas- Chris Hanson has several, Jonas, Imjustme has some..to name a few..

You weren't limited for the $24 withdrawal, but because the account was flagged due to the iPod's. I have an account that had nearly $2000 in it (bad idea, I know..but I sold too much, couldn't stop). And then slowly withdrew a few hundred every few days. Now it's down to only $150, so almost done. It's definitely the iPod that got you killed.

Slavaja 01-18-2008 06:47 AM

wow can you tell a difference between ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ipods and real ipods? coz if you can't really then im sellin ipods as well lolzzz

imjustme 01-18-2008 07:27 AM

I've seen definite ⊗⊗⊗⊗ iPod's where you almost can't tell the difference from photos. You need to have them in your hand and maybe even open them to notice it. I did hear that eBay and especially PayPal crack down on anyone selling anything named iPod.

topazcorp 01-18-2008 11:54 AM

The iPods I'm selling are genuine, they are brand new and factory sealed. I've got the receipt from Best Buy, I bought them from a friend who bough them with is employee discount. I tough I made a good deal but the way Paypal is reacting, it make me want to stick to household items and never sell anything branded again! Do they always react that way with electronics?

ebayhateluv 01-18-2008 11:58 AM

HI- Yes, we make bad choices sometimes.
I for one spent almost 3 years collecting, using Sniper , for Rolex collectible boxes, paying from $45-$200 for them.
--Now, I am sitting with like 6 laundry baskets of rolex boxes, and no place to sell them...
--was offered cash from local AD, but i passed, he wanted to give me far less than what i even paid.
---I probably have over $10,000 sitting in my dining room on shelves..
what to do?? Live and learn..

imjustme 01-18-2008 12:27 PM

Or list them with a typo in your title description. Someone will find it and think it's a deal ...and there we go, 1 sold, 999 to go :)

altoman 01-18-2008 01:58 PM

If you sell garage sale junk and stay off the Ebay lists of stuff they're nervous about, will you have better luck with not getting limited by PayPal?
