Does iTunes connect to Paypal when Purchasing?

Hi.

I have a US paypal which I use for somethings and one of them purchasing from itunes.

My question is do I need to be connected to my vpn during purchasing from itunes? or it does not matter?

Because I'm afraid that itunes connect to paypal when purchasing and then paypal will check my ip address.

So what is your thoughts?
