Paypal not releasing holds after positive feedback received

Paypal used to release holds on my sold items after i received a positive feedback from the buyer! As long as i had at least 10 "detailed seller ratings" that were 5 stars.

Now they are not releasing holds for 21 days on 4 of my accounts no matter if i get positive feedback or not... Has paypal changed this???

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I am having the same issue.

Seems paypal is wanting to hold onto peoples money as long as they can so when the buyer decieds he/she didnt like or want the item paypal will refund them no ?'s asked and they will get to keep the free item they bought off ebay.

I haven't had a lot of holds lately, but the ones I had went the full 21 days. Feedback and or delivery confirmation didn't release them. I even called on one to confirm delivery and payment still sat held for 12 more days until 21 up.

They maybe putting in a hard 21 hold on some sales now. That kind of blows. Usually delivery or feedback helps so its only about a week. But maybe that's changed.

Me personally, I'm going to assume any 21 day holds I get as 21 days full term. I dont think this is a glitch. But time will tell if it becomes more common place.

3 words for you!

eBay Buyer Protection

they are holding the money to make sure the buyer is happy under ebays new policy.

I'm curious as to how many happy buyers does eBay need so they can drop sellers altogether. Could have 3 million buyers fighting over 10 items.... eBay utopia

They seem to think sellers are bottom feeders, that clearly have no valid part in the eBay process....

Every day I ask myself why.....

ha ha that is right!!!!!!

And yes I noticed that they only release when positive FB is given and then no problem

Yeah its weird ebay kiss's the ass of the buyers but the sellers is who makes ebay the money to keep them rich.

I've had this problem before, many many times. I simply call Paypal and advise them that positive feedback has been left, or that the item has clearly been delivered. They check it, and release the hold for me.

Same thing is also happening to me. I am receiving positive feedback but no release on funds. Funds used to get released straightaway!

Paypal are becoming impossible to tolerate - seems everyday they are riding my ass for something else, its almost like I'm a toy for them to **** with and have a good laugh :P

Yeah Paypal are really pissing me off of late, Im really worried though, I run my own online business selling legit items from wholesalers and such, My payment method is via paypal and would love some way to just cut paypal out the equation completely but is this really possible without destroying my sales amount?

If you sell on eBay you pretty much have to offer PayPal or sales will hurt. If you are using your own standalone website you dont have to use PayPal. There are lots of merchant account options other than PayPal

Fizzy_Vimto 10-18-2010 04:01 PM

Yeah that is true, I have google Checkout set up on my website, along with Bank transfer and Moneybookers and ofcourse Cash on Collection etc, but im sure the % of people that visit the site 80% of them will use paypal due to the buyer protection they offer, so even though it's not over eBay for a buyer it is still very favourable!

pod 10-18-2010 04:04 PM

On one of my sites I have credit card and PayPal and yes, 80% go for PayPal. Its burned into peoples minds. No way around that. But I dont think not offering it would hurt sales. Tempted to turn it off for awhile and see. But right now the PayPal on that site is fine, so I dont care if they use it. But if it wasn't there I don't think it would really hurt sales

if it is your website all you have to do is withdraw funds from paypal daily, learn how to create stealth accounts and don't ship until the money reaches your bank. With eBay it a bit different, you can try offering a discount to buyers that will pay you via money request over eBay checkout. it works most of the time. only problem is you have to babysit each auction.
