| trigun989 | 01-16-2011 11:57 PM | Shipping Labels i never understood what the benefit was of printing a shipping label on paypal/ebay. or what it really does. can someone explain it. since im a student and dont sell a lot i just go to the post office and pay there. |
| jbluntz | 01-17-2011 12:01 AM | The benefit is you don't have to hand write the address and you can use the available funds in paypal to pay for shipping. |
| trigun989 | 01-17-2011 12:15 AM | ok but how does the post office know u paid? do they like scan a receipt |
| jbluntz | 01-17-2011 12:20 AM | The payment goes to the USPS who in turn gives you a tracking # which is printed out on the label and also e-mailed to the customer. |
It says on the label prepaid postage or something like that, and when they scan it they know if its paid or not also the non-postage labels look different. |
The printable shipping label is awesome, in my opinion. I package items, to the point of being ready to ship, in the comfort of my home, and spend less than a minute at the counter in the post office every day. One of the few positives of Pay pal. |
| Tangy | 01-17-2011 07:17 AM | It saves you time Basically, like stated above, it saves you the hassle of writing all the address out. Just click the button and try it out :D |

Its much much faster than any other way as address info is pre filled out
Its automatically added to the eBay and PayPal transaction Quote:

| trigun989 | 01-17-2011 04:32 PM | ohh thanks. ill try it out. |
| Melissa1971 | 01-17-2011 06:38 PM | And the customer doesn't know how much you spent for shipping if you make sure the hide shipping box is checked.
Sometimes they get mad if they overpay for shipping
Free/discounted delivery confirmations are great too |
| holymoly | 01-17-2011 06:41 PM | Well JBluntz. You don't have to "hand write it". You can always copy and paste. Main thing is to use some of that 21 day hold money to pay for shipping instead of doing it upfront w/ your money. |
| jbluntz | 01-17-2011 07:23 PM | I've never heard of anyone copying and pasting something onto a label requires a pen or pencil to fill out, you can copy and paste when using a label printer which the op hasn't tried yet. |
PP shipping is the one and only thing I actually really like about PayPal. Its fast, and covers a lot of leg work. Marks eBay shipped, adds tracking. PP has it on file naturally. Its cheaper. If account has holds you get shipping amount released. Its plus plus. Only issue is claims and credits. I have a few to file. Not sure if they will credit PP or send a check. My guess is check. And on this account I don't have access to address so that will be a goner
But overall its great. I wish they had other carrier options like FedEx and DHL. But thats splitting hairs |
| WasTopRatedThenBanned | 01-22-2011 09:22 PM | I also wish fedex was an option!!! |
| userOFnames | 01-22-2011 10:38 PM | If you hate filling out customs forms for First Class International packages you can print labels with stamps.com or endicia. It also doesn't show the cost of postage on the labels. I use stamps.com personally. |
| trigun989 | 01-23-2011 12:09 PM | wow used it and it is cheaper. 7$ cheaper for me. though for weight i had no clue since i have just a regular scale. |
| Ace717 | 03-04-2011 04:43 PM | What happens if I print a label that has a different return address than the state I'm in? Will the local post office accept it and ship it? I would assume no because the shipping amount $ would not be correct. For example, if I printed a label that had a return address of Colorado yet I'm dropping it off at the post office in Georgia and it was already paid for on paypal. Any input? I haven't done it yet. |

Oh and Media Mail I think, I hardly do media mail but i believe their rates are set also but check on that ok |

That's a bummer because paypal shipping is a huge time saver. :pop2: |
| Ace717 | 03-04-2011 06:57 PM | I ship first class mail. I'm going to ask the clerk tomorrow. I'll tell her I distribute products and drop ship for customers but want to put their return address on the packages. I'll see what they say to do. Thanks guys. |

| Ace717 | 03-05-2011 02:58 PM | Lady at USPS said there's no way to do it. |
| Ferret | 03-05-2011 04:05 PM | I send everything certified mail/priority, might have to try out these shipping labels. |

Lady at USPS said there's no way to do it. | This is a lie. I do it all the time. Print the labels, stick 'em on the packages, and drop them off a the APC (Automated Postal Center) afterhours. I almost never have a problem with packages that are sent this way. When I *DO* have a problem, its because the packages are less than 3/4ths of an inch thick and they are sent back to the return address.
One suggestion for your issue that I've thought about using but haven't done yet is simply covering up the return address on the preprinted label with another one. It's not that hard. Go buy some Avery 8195 labels and you should be good to go.
Also -when shipping USPS Priority or Express the tracking and confirmation is free when using PP shipping. Nice little added $ bonus. |
| brettvonstap | 03-21-2011 07:59 PM | A few things I have learned from multi-order shipping:
- Make sure to print within 24 hours otherwise you will not be able to print the label at all or request a refund.
- If you request a refund within 24 hours, expect a LONG wait...10-15 days. I have had it take longer a few times.
- I am not sure on the amount however I know there is a limit to the amount of times you can click print. After you exceed the limit you will get a pop up saying you can't print anymore and will need to request a refund.
All I can think of for now, I will check my notes and see what else I have down. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:02 AM. | |
