| mikeym2334 | 01-27-2011 11:06 PM | Assistance with amounts to put thro' new paypal account on a brand new pay pal account, what is the highest limit to stay under the radar when selling something? can i sell something for $8000 and use the virtual credit card as soon as the money is deposited into my pay pal account? |
| RedDevilŽ | 01-27-2011 11:48 PM | omg.......... good luck |
| GreenBean | 01-27-2011 11:58 PM | changed thread title to give part of answer :faint: :nono: :deadhorse: |
| jeffweico | 01-27-2011 11:58 PM | You're kidding, right???
:pound: |
As soon as that 8k hits that paypal account, you're DONE. |
I wouldn't take that much into a PayPal account even if I worked for paypal. |
| mikeym2334 | 01-28-2011 03:32 PM | so what is the limit? does anybody know? |
There is no magic number to stay under. You can get limited for $40
Dont risk that kind of money with PayPal period. Unless not getting it for 6 months is ok |
You need to understand stealth and spread sales. Welcome to the forum - I only let large amounts go through pa yp al if I don't care for that money to get potentially held for 180 days. Period. |
| oompaloompa | 01-28-2011 03:58 PM | you need to start in the low hundreds and work up slowly. It depends on what you are selling too |
| Red X | 01-28-2011 04:46 PM | Why would you want to take a risk with a large amount of money using pp which we all know would love to use your 8k as "interest". |

Now, I'm not going to go thro' the saga again. This is a once & once only for you.
Do not think of risking a paypal account with that amount of money:shocked: |
| cardfelon | 01-28-2011 05:54 PM | What the heck are you selling for 8K? Do you realize how much in fees you would donate to Paypal on a transaction that size? |
| mikeym2334 | 01-28-2011 10:55 PM | im sorry if im asking too many questions. as you can see im new to this. i just opened my paypal last week. the only reason i ask is because the first item i sold was a $3000 item. nothing froze on that sale. i was able to withdraw the money out of my checking account. now i want to sell an item for $8000 and have a buyer lined up. so u guys are saying if he deposits the 8k to my pay pal account, pay pal will freeze it immediately. i cant buy something right away thru my pay pal account. now remember, my pay pal isnt linked to ebay. this is an outside sale. me being the seller selling to an outside buyer. thanks for any responses |
| jbluntz | 01-28-2011 11:22 PM | Yeah off ebay transactions are alot less stricter, If you managed to get 3k through already then you just might get lucky with 8k just make sure you have a working phone # attached and you could even call them first to let them know your plans and they can put a note on the acct, but keep in mind they may ask for ssn. |
You got VERY lucky with 3k on a new account! Quote:

I still would not even try this with a real account. Period. There is nothing stopping buyer from screwing you over
You can not sell locally for the same price? |

| RedDevilŽ | 01-29-2011 02:02 AM | anything below $250 OUTSIDE of eBay is fine in my experiences and opinion, and that's IF the account is set up right. |
