Buyer says the item is broken

So a buyer bought an item off me which was 150 USD, and claims that it doesn't work. I check all my items before sending them out, and I remember this one specifically working.

The thing is, the buyer has left negative feedback for others over their last 7 transaction, and are threatening to leave me negative feedback and start a claim so I'm quite sure they're a scam buyer.

Is it possible for me to move the money from this paypal onto another one of my accounts before they file a claim? Will paypal track it and then reverse it or something? Because I really don't want to lose 150 USD to the second scam buyer this month..

Paypal can not only reverse funds, but they can and will take funds from your credit card and or bank account.

My suggestion to you is to actually make a phone call to the buyer. I'm sure you know how to pull their phone number up.

Worse comes to worst... make him return the item to you first. Even if they file a claim on paypal, they'll have to return the item first.

Yeah, I'm posting here because I've tried all the usual methods, I've contacted them through email and called them up through skype twice, but he really doesn't seem to care and just wants his money back, and hung up on me the second time I called them in two days.

The last scammer who opened a case with me just told ebay they received an empty box and got a refund like that. Right now anything could happen with this new guy.

I was thinking I could do it through several layers, by transferring the money to account 2, and then to account 3, and removing my credit cards (I don't have bank accounts registered with any paypal account).

I really don't like having to go to such drastic measures, and I really hope this is a one time thing, but will it work?

Bit of a problem. I recall putting your flag to NEW ZEALAND but it magically changed to AUSTRALIA IP is from NZ so keep that flag.

It's MUCH easier to give as much info as possible in the 1st post.

It's so not fair to others trying to help with workable replies, as you got from SaiJin, if half a story is given.

Care to try again? :peace:

You can move before they file...make sure you w/d. Also, you can ask them to send the package back. You don't lose the product then.

homeonets 02-12-2011 08:14 PM

What's w/d? Yeah I've contacted them and told them to mail it back etc though, and all theyre saying is if they don't get a refund soon, they will file.

GreenBean 02-13-2011 12:20 AM

?w/d, should mean withdraw. :pop2:

SaiJin 02-13-2011 12:41 AM

Listen, if they file they are OBLIGATED by Paypal to return the item first.
So tell them to go and file it. Seems like no matter what you are going to get that neg anyways.

At least get your item back.
