Paypal is great!

Am I the only one who thinks Paypal is actually great?

Sure, you get suspended sometimes, and I had my fair share of chargebacks and theft from customers, but still, I wouldn't have been able to achieve 10% of what I achieved without Paypal.

I have been suspended four times by Paypal. All four times I had done nothing. I was unsuspended twice, refused once, and didn't bother to appeal the fourth one.

Paypal has low fees, convenient features (IPN, PDT, etc.) and overall a good, reliable service.

Which leads me to: PAYPAL IS GREAT!

What do you think?

Way to spark a discussion ha - you might think twice if you 4-5 digits worth of money stuck in pa yp al after YEARS of clean operation...

But, hey if you like it, props to you - it's a nuisance many times.

Oh I had $17,000 stuck in an account (ONLY because paypal prevented me from withdrawing but allowed me to keep received sales, a HUGE mistake I made was to do exactly that).

I talked to a lawyer. Cost me $2,000 total to get $17,000.

Given enough time you or anyone will grow to loathe PayPal...

Daga 02-22-2011 04:52 PM

yeah, Im gonna go with NO on the PayPal Love Poem. I think many can agree with me on this one.=}

doughboykilla 02-22-2011 10:31 PM

You will join the majority of us who can tell you pp is not so great.

They have no rhyme or reason to shut you down and steal your money and will do it just for the hell of it.

Perfect accounts gone and your money taken.

Give it time. You will change your mind.

I'm in this current situation now. Care to elaborate? The account info is legit and I've jumped through all their hoops, but since becoming limited I've shipped over $1,200 worth of goods on payments received. Should I just stop? Should I start refunding every buyer who sends in payment?

What is the proper course of action here?

There was a time when thinking of PayPal would give me butterflies.
Each morning I would check my ever growing account and it felt like the sun was going to shine forever.
I was young and naive. And was a very romantic time to be alive.

Then PP screwed me, locked my funds up for 180 days without warning and made me look bad in front of all my customers. I had done nothing wrong, just made to much money too fast.
It was the end of our love song.
Now I spend hours each day building stealth accounts, nurturing them like tiny seedlings, little "money trees" if you will.
I now have a healthy array of accounts and making enough to consider this a full time job.

I am happy PP is working out well for you, but when they slam the digital door in your face:doh:, at least you'll know where to find us.:D

I love paypal myself to ecspecially off ebay paypals I've got about dozen of em almost a year old, have never had any problems with them and they're great for buying on ebay to, just link a mailbox to one of em and your set.

rsot 02-23-2011 10:24 AM

So it cost you 2k to get your OWN 17k that was tied up - 11.8% loss and you still would write that you love em? Ha I like your sarcasm.

What's the alternative really? What is it? How can I sell items as quickly and easily? All these "Add paypal as a checkout option and add 30% more sales" are true. I started ONE project exclusively with AlertPay and my conversion rate was so low I almost had to cancel the project! 20% of my buyers had problems at some point of the purchasing problem! Not saying AlertPay isn't great, it is, and getting better, but Paypal is just so much great. Only by adding Paypal to this website, I doubled my sales.

Sure, Paypal has suspended me a couple of times, and I lost several thousands in sales. But overall Paypal is cheap, well-done and trusted. Without Paypal I would be NOTHING today. A merchant account? Please. Like I wanted to pay three times the fees with ten times the trouble.

Oh Paypal has already done all this :). I have lost an entire company thanks to them. A website going from 1,000 visits a day to 300 just because they suspended me (cuitting my means to afford advertising which ironically I paid through paypal and ruining my reputation).

Still Paypal is the best.

It depends.

Is this your first time limited?

What have you done to get limited?

What does paypal ask exactly?

In all cases you will get the money eventually, just be aware that you are extremely vulnerable if a customers makes a complaint so be extra nice and do NOT tell them you are limited as it's an easy refund for them! (free item AND free money!).

Also, in most cases, prepare to close your account once you're unlimited, a flagged account rarely last long.

siccspitz 02-24-2011 12:11 PM

If it works for you then great :P

on the other hand we kind of hate it LOL

meg 02-24-2011 12:57 PM

hate it hate it!!!

once again they have limited me, asking for photo id!

where can i get photo id on a **** account? oh i give up with paypal............

jeffweico 02-24-2011 05:23 PM

I used to love PayPal...

But then eBay bought them.

PayPal was a truly wonderful service when it first came out. I used them for about 2 years and had no problems. Within months of being bought by eBay, that all changed. First came the restrictions, then the holds. And then it got even worse....

Now I use them because I have no choice, but BELIEVE ME, if there was a VIABLE option, many people would jump ship in a heartbeat.

Imakemoney 02-24-2011 07:07 PM

Meg,
Be creative when they ask for photo ID i dont think i need to explain :)

jbluntz 02-24-2011 07:54 PM

I don't even waste my time with partial limitations even, if and when I get them which is hardly ever since I mainy use off ebay paypals, your gonna get the money in 6 months anyway and with a partial limitation you can continue to sell as much as you want and whatever you want until your ebay get's supsended of course.

LoopHole 02-24-2011 08:59 PM

I hate 3bay more than i hate pp.

When did 3bay purchase pp?

I think of ebay/paypal like a casino host thinks of his whales that play on credit. You don't only have to "win" the money but then you have to worry about getting paid after the fact. Its like having to win it twice.
