Can I go negative in paypal.

Was wondering if I didnt have the funds in my bank if I could go negative. For example I only have 500 in my account but want to buy something for 1000 would paypal let me do that and it jus come out to -500 balance?

LOL no! you need a bank account or credit card to get that extra $500.

Why are you asking this?

Come on: your questions are like a kid would ask us.

WTheck are you wanting, apart from making lots of us spill coffee when we read what you ask. I'm getting bad vibes unless you tell me different :pop2:

let me guess, if you still have checks in your check book, do you still think you can write checks even if your bank account is empty too?

@unholywar23...I will tell you just a bit of worthy information for you.

Pa yp al will send payment to your seller in the form of eCheck to your seller. They will then charge your bank account for said amount.

NOW should it FAIL, eCheck will bounce AND (if you have no overdraft protection for your bank account), you will be assessed a $35+ charge fee from your bank AND whatever other policies are in place.

PLUS if seller has sent your item, and your eCheck BOUNCES, you can be charged.

Anyways I asked because my paypal balance went negative enen though I didnt have the funds in my bank account to cover it. But once I had the funds in it, it was automatically taken out by Paypal.

His question is not so weird, apart from the way he asked it maybe. With my verified account I can make 'instant' payments from my bank account, so basicly Paypal does give a credit line to me, where as the seller will receive his money "instantly" and it doesn't have to clear for 7 days before he gets the money so he can ship right away.

I'm assuming Paypal will see if the money is not in the bank account the transaction will be cancelled and they'll just take the money of the seller. Or maybe they have some sense and they'll let the buyers account go into negative.

I have never actually experienced this yet, but to me it seemed like a possibility.

That's true if pa yp al has cleared bank payments in the past, you will get a mini-kind of virtual credit line.

PP will allow you to do this, but only with a SSN verified account. The bank account and CC on the PP account would have to be at $0 as well.. I say they will 'allow' you to do it, but it will put you in collections..
