Sending/receiving payments as GIFTS
 

I'm about to sell something and receive a rather big amount of money. I know the buyer fairly well, so he would be able to mark the payment as gift and save me $300 on fees.

It's my personal paypal with my real info. Would you recommend doing that?

On this forum, several users have been conned by the buyer.

And, paypal is paying a LOT more attention to 'gifts' these days. Can tell of two accounts that got limited because of sending payment as a gift.

Keep your money safe so you can MAKE more money & not get stung to save money.

Agreed, whilst it is possible to slip through the net with a gift payment, it is not recommended. Instead pay the PP fees and transfer funds normally.

No doubt. if you are getting a payment that big then the small $300 in fees should be nothing. When people want to send large payments to me I just offer them free shipping and a huge discount if they send a check or money order. Some take the offer and some done. Doesnt hurt to ask. People do it all the time. I purchased a hot tub locally for my folks and when I went to pay with my CC they owner dropped the price by $500 if I went to the bank and got cash. It was a debit anyway so it didnt hurt to do it. He was going to have to pay the huge Visa fees so he avoided it and even could pocket the money away from the tax man.

Another reason to ask them to pay other than paypal is that you will hit 20k much much faster with huge payments like that.

So which is the safest stealth paypal to stealth paypal transaction? personal? service? mass payment? sending an invoice? which would be recommened? Thank you in advance.

Once in awhile anything is ok just don't make it regular.
