| adl0816 | 08-18-2011 02:57 PM | Providing Refunds on Stealth Account Recently, a buyer wanted me to refund him for an item that he bought and just received. However, the bad thing is, I have already withdrawn all my balance from the stealth PP account. If I need to provide him with a refund, it will have to come from my bank account, which is under my real name and details.
My question is, once I provide the buyer with a refund through my bank, is my PP account doomed? |
Not necessarily doomed at all - yes, a receipt from the bank will show your true info but you may be ok - you will have to wait and see.
All the best. |
| adl0816 | 08-18-2011 04:07 PM | Okay, hopefully it will all work out then. |
| HurricaneHuntr | 08-18-2011 05:46 PM | I pay my ebay fees with paypal. i am one of the few i guess? I try to keep enough in there for that at least... However, there is times when they want $201 and i only have $193 so ebay gets an echeck for $193 .. stupid i know, anyway i have paid this way many times and my echeck clears just fine and ebay gets their money and paypal processes the echeck... all is good. I have overcharged on postage or sent people postage that was owed eg.. po weighs package more than i did... i just send it from my main paypal instead of going off my main cable highspeed. Just simpler. No problems sending a few people gifts of a few dollars :) |

Why don't you just make a couple of quick sales and then get enough money to refund the buyer? You can always tell the buyer that you are arranging for a refund and that it will take a day or two. That's what I do when I'm in a similar bind. |

Not through ebay though. just put up an old toaster on ecrater, for the amount you need to cover the refund. Then buy it and pay with paypal during checkout. |
| SweetPea | 08-18-2011 09:06 PM | If you pay using your bank account, PP will not see your name, etc. It is like an EIN number. All they know is the bank card number you use to transfer funds. |
| Melissa1971 | 08-18-2011 10:21 PM | wrong thread |

If you are a Pro-Merchant, keep $40 in your bank account at all times | Am I missing something? The refund is through Paypal. When you send the buyer a refund, Paypal will take it out of the bank account number you have on file. You will be giving them permission to do this. Paypal should not see the info from your bank. The buyer will have the refund. Why would he only have a day and a half? |
| Melissa1971 | 08-19-2011 12:06 AM | Sorry I thought I was in an Amazon thread, I'll go delete it |

If you upload funds from your bank to paypal they DO see the information. The only time they do not is when you withdraw to that bank account.
as for the EIN, its kind of a totally different monster that has its own issues. |
| adl0816 | 08-20-2011 02:30 AM | So what is the final verdict here? My personal information WILL be released to PP if I have to refund a buyer using funds from my bank? |

When you refund they will only see the paypal normal transaction paid of much they paid, for what item, and some other stuff and that you refunded. No they will not see your account number, routing number, name on your bank account. Don't worry go ahead and refund. |

Have you done this before? |
| KingRay | 08-20-2011 04:57 PM | If you upload ANY funds to paypal via your bank account they will see your real info. That has been said on this site for a long time.
The ONLY way they do not see your info is when withdrawing OUT of paypal.
There is no difference in uploading money to paypal than when you pay paypal some money(from same bank) to make a payment. Is that not the same thing??
Research it a bit and you will see that everyone says never upload funds from you bank account with a stealth paypal. Not making it up. |
| adl0816 | 08-20-2011 06:39 PM | Alright, thanks for the answers. |
| UnderBites08 | 08-20-2011 10:17 PM | just go get a gift card in the amount you owe them...isnt that simple enough ? |

THEY WON'T SEE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER, ROUTING NUMBER AND BANK NAME OF THE BANK YOU USED!
I have done this before. That is how I know. |
| SweetPea | 08-21-2011 10:51 AM | If in doubt, contact the bank to find out what info they give out. |
| UnderBites08 | 08-21-2011 11:22 AM | Im still confused. Why not just get gift cards?? |
| adl0816 | 08-21-2011 05:07 PM | I think I'm just going to maybe get a few sales to get to the refund amount or go buy a Greendot Moneypak for the amount to be refunded. Thanks for the answers everyone! |
| HowYaLivin | 08-21-2011 06:56 PM | You NEVER should withdraw ALL you funds from pp, that is just dumb. So many uncertainties could happen, always leave enough in your Paypal to cover these kinds of problems.
To answer your question, I say you buy a moneypak for whatever amount you want to refund. Load it to your Paypal and refund the buyer. Problem solved. (this is assuming the amount you have to refund is less than $250)
NEVER transfer funds from your bank account to paypal | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:01 PM. | |
