PayPal eCheck chargeback questions?

Recently I made a major purchase for an item that required a $2,000 deposit on PayPal. I payed via eCheck to the seller. My question has to do with chargebacks and eChecks in general. For instance if the supplier/seller doesn't deliver on their end do eChecks qualify under the same category has a credit card/debit card charge backs with banks for up to 180 days? What rights do paying customers have if the seller does not deliver their product and the payment was sent via eCheck directly from a bank account?

No. And you should REALLY REALLY consider checking with paypal directly about making sure this transaction is eligible for buyers protection. I'm very sure payments in part, which you appear to be describing, DO NOT qualify. :pop2:

Why risk that much money for a paypal transaction? there are alternatives :peace:

eChecks are VERY different from credit card payments. With cc payments, you can do chargeback since the funds come from credit - echeck = CASH from your bank. Your bank might have some policy on fraud - you should check with your financial institution.

Not only are echecks a major pain in the butt, they take forever to clear. You want to get the item out as soon as possible, but you have to wait to ship, and the buyer may leave you a neg because they think you are dragging your heels.

Yeah the only thing you can do is contact your bank as RSOT said. Other than that you might be out. You can sue them sure but as far as online with paypal, probably nothing you can do.

I have had tons of luck with contacting the District attorneys office in the area of the seller. They are ruthless. I have posts in the past on my history on both ends of the stick actually.

A search will bring them up.

Thank you for the suggestions guys very helpfun intel. The company is legit and the seller has a good standing with his customers from what I can see and read on. Not one complaint on him for record to date. I just have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the product because it's custom made by order only. If all else fails and they don't deliver i will take them to small claims court and win. I really don't think it's going to come down to that but if it were then I am ready for the win! :)

Yeah I think you will be fine.

the other method might be escrow. Is the seller offering paypal? has that seller accepted you will use an echeck?

Do get all that sorted B4 you do the transaction.

A bad apple might not look rotten until it is too late.:juggle:

Yes, the seller accepted PayPal and the eCheck has already cleared. The seller is an FX movie artist and the piece I'm ordering takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete. The remaining amount will be payed in cash once I arrive to pick it up from them. Has you said if the apple turns rotten I will have no choice but to file a small claims case against them and sue them for the none delivery of a completed product. There is a paper trail that will leads to them no doubt so i will give them the allowed time to process and complete my order. I have a good feeling about this seller but It's always good to do an under study of what could go wrong in advance and be one step ahead of it all in the event Houston we have a problem happens....
