PAYPAL - Scams A Fee for Refunds

Hello Everyone,

Just did a complete refund for a ebay purchase a few days ago and I check my account today because this whining ebayer wanted a postage refund which we said ok just to finish the transaction then we will block him.

After checking our account we found we were "CHARGED A REFUND FEE" for a refund!!!!!!!

we are mad as heck because without the client knowing we put the extra fee (refund fee) that was minus from his refund into the second refund then explained it in an email why he was short.

Folks these people have to be stopped by someone (fed's, state(s)

Less than a $50 transaction, refunded and they took almost a dollar for thier refund fee.:mad2:

Yes sadly there is a new policy from pa yp al that went into effect from june/july that allows them to double dip on transactions - fee on a refund - very disgusting

ShadyOne 09-15-2011 01:20 PM

Yep happens, though I wouldn't recommend short changing customers or you may be called a names also :)

nameisyou 09-15-2011 02:11 PM

Hello Shadyone,

Yes you are correct we did not short changed the customer, he did not know anything about it but was thankful we did it without mentioning it, we still blocked him because he bought an item from us that was fully tested and working but return a totally different item with a different serial number claiming it was ours. So he's blocked

FandangoKango 09-15-2011 02:23 PM

Sad this is how it is, but its part of doing business. :(

Hrad 09-15-2011 02:38 PM

Well you can't blame them for it. If people are willing to pay it, they are allowed to charge it. Sometimes I wish I worked for Paypal :P

nameisyou 09-15-2011 02:59 PM

Well yea I can blame them you would be hopping mad if Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Target or even your local grocery store or your bank charged you a fee for a return.

Not only paypal but the rest of these bottom feeders (bogus debit card issuer with no history of being in business for a year) trying to have the status of a bank but yet not be a bank can pull stuff like this.... could you or I charge a customer a fee for a return and not get hit with a charge-back from either paypal or their c.card company? I don't think so.

Yes it is part of the cost of being in business so we'll just pass that fee onto everyone else and triple it within a few days.

All is fair right? rather by choice or not.....

Yet another shaft to the sellers to "ensure quality" - trash,

lakeman 09-15-2011 05:11 PM

nameisyou, I understand your concern, but you have to look at like this-- Nobody is forcing you to use them, you use them, you must abide by their fees/rules. It's tough, but that's the way it works.

UnderBites08 09-15-2011 08:47 PM

Every merchant account does this. nothing new to be honest, may be bullsh*t. This is why my store charges a 10% restock fee for items returned for no reason. Just add this in your return policy.

Sandy D 09-15-2011 10:47 PM

Even though we do not like it we just have to adjust to all the changes.

doughboykilla 09-15-2011 11:38 PM

yeah this happen to my cusion awhile back he thought the money was in limbo cause it wasnt in pp after he refunded the person.

like he had enough to refund then after words he was neg 13 cents which wasnt much but it was the point of the matter to him.

EB forces us to use PP. They have other payment processers you can use but they are trash compared with paypal. I know of some that are better then PP but we aren't allowed to use them. Its a monopoly.

Sure it is but it wont every change in our lifetimes.

The only way to go is what some of the vets here do and have older accounts that accept money through merchant accounts.

lakeman 09-16-2011 10:31 AM

Yotano, you completely missed the point of my post..

No one forces you to use EBay/pp. If you want to use them, you must live with their rules...

Hrad 09-16-2011 11:10 AM

Since we're talking about fees, you know when you receive a payment on Paypal that's let's say, $0.15, do you just get $0.00 or do they actually charge you the full $0.30 + 3% leaving you with -$0.16?

Because if you get -0.16 I'm just going to tell my buyers not to pay me haha.

rsot 09-16-2011 11:24 AM

No Hrad - you get 0 ha

I remember the good old days ( the 60s) when if you wanted to open a adult shop in NewYork, you had to be hand in hand with the mob. They will allow you to sell adult stuff and make sure nobody will interfere with your business, and you will give them something in exchange. It's called "the game" and that's how it is played.

Nowadays we have these hacks from e bay and p ay pa l running the game. Only way to win is to learn the rules, play the game and STFU. I dont see much difference from the adult store in NY during the 60s and what we do now. Survival is the key.
