Extent that PayPal checks ID cards?
 

If PayPal asks someone to fax in their id do they check the Customer ID (or Identifier) number on the card and check that somewhere? Or do they just look at the visible information.

Also, does anyone know if your Customer Identifier number shows your date of birth?

They assume that you cannot provide the information...so once you do you are fine.

I have sent stuff in the past that made no sense and they have still restored my account/s. Not sure on the date of birth thing but the number on the card won't be checked for authenticity.

Well... that begs the question: To what extent do they check SSNs? Their system must check something about it when you manually enter it into their system for verification of an account, but if you fax them it will they check it with the government or just take a look at the visible info?
