We are contacting you because your PayPal account has potentially invalid or
outdated information. Please log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/us
and update the information indicated below. After logging in, click on the
Profile tab to update your account.

PayPal periodically checks the validity of members' email addresses, phone
numbers and mailing addresses to ensure security and prevent potential issues
with inactive accounts.

If PayPal does not have current or accurate information on file for your
account, we may be unable to confirm your identity. This may make it difficult
for you to recover a forgotten password or to receive money sent to you via
money request or mailed checks.

Please make the changes indicated above today, or simply choose to close this
account and open a new one. You can even use the same email address to open a
new account as long as that email address is valid.

I hope you did not click on the link in the email. Always log into your account directly through the website. If you log into your account there would be a notification that something was needed on the account. Is all your info current?

I did not click the link in the email and I am pretty sure it's not a phising email.

Except the request for "add your second phone" there is no other notification. (this notification has been there for a while)

Pretty worried and would appreciate any help.

Is there a reason why you don't just go ahead and call PayPal?

I have personally found them to be friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Personally, I don't think that is a phishing email based on the URL in the letter.

English is not my native language while my paypal name is 100% American. (I am concerned this will be a dead give away) All the info in my paypal is stealth.

cardfelon 09-28-2011 08:59 AM

If you need to call them do you have a friend that speaks perfect English call for you? Have you gone through your account and verified that all of the information is current and up to date?

I can definitely have someone call for me but I am not sure what they must ask paypal?

I am not sure what you mean when you say "is all information is up to date"

Thanks for your patience.

Is the card you have on file with them current? Not expired? Most VCC's have a short expiration date on them.

Is the phone number you provided them still valid?

They sent you that email because something on your account is out of date. Or at least they think it is. You would want to check all of your information first before calling them.

The vcc is valid.

The phone number is not, can you please recommend a virtual phone number service for this?

cardfelon 09-28-2011 11:06 AM

Sorry I don't know use virtual phone numbers. If you look around on the forum you may find some more threads about them. But you will need to get another phone lined up before talking to Paypal.

If they hit you with confirm location then you will need to get a landline or something to do this.

Otherwise tracfone or virgin mobile will work. But, they wont work to confirm location and that is probably coming.

I am not in the states and will not be able to use tracfone or virgin mobile. Any other recommendation?

Sorry, being out of the US is out of my league. Wish I could help.

Use a call forwarding service from a net provider - worth a try.
