Additional Information Required???

Why do i get these emails from paypal lately after making a new account?
Then when i try and send money to a seller paypal "investigates the transaction" and ends up reversing the payment back to me?
Should i just forget about this account? I have no idea what they want from me or why this happens....

Hello xxx xxxxxx,

We are contacting you because your PayPal account has potentially invalid or outdated information. Please log in to your account at https://www.paypal.com/ca and update the information indicated below. After logging in, click on the Profile tab to update your account.

PayPal periodically checks the validity of members' email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses to ensure security and prevent potential issues with inactive accounts.

If PayPal does not have current or accurate information on file for your account, we may be unable to confirm your identity. This may make it difficult for you to recover a forgotten password or to receive money sent to you via money request or mailed checks.

Please make the changes indicated above today, or simply choose to close this account and open a new one. You can even use the same email address to open a new account as long as that email address is valid.

If you wish not to receive email reminders in the future, please edit your settings in the Email Preferences in your Profile.

Thanks,

PayPal

They probably tried to call you and the number did not go through or said number does not exist anymore so they sent you this email. Has happened to me and you should always keep a valid number on a working account.

I agree with the above.

If they tried to call you to check on activity and get no answer they will do this.

BiN4RY 11-18-2011 01:13 AM

I second that. Paypal tried to call you, and they will limit your account + send you this email if the phone number is invalid/disabled

i receive the same email today.but my account is not limited(yet)

ive already updated my number.

any idea whats gonna happen now?

BiN4RY 11-22-2011 12:20 AM

If it isn't limited within a day, then that should mean you are safe...for now. If I were you,I would still update you profile with a valid phone number

See this is my question. Where do you get free or cheap valid phone number from? Obviously most people would never reveal but still maybe PM is a good way not to spread it all over the board.

GREEN LION 11-22-2011 06:14 AM

i already updated my number,it was an active number anyway,my mobile phone was switch off when they called. my account is still ok .

I found out that PETRO CANADA has prepaid phones. The cheapest phone I saw was for 19$. Now the question is, how often can you change the number? Because with virgin mobility you are able to change your number whenever you call them, free of charge.

BiN4RY 11-22-2011 02:52 PM

Hint: look into phone forwarding instead.

I used to use TOLLFREEFORWARDING before but the problem is, what if the number I get was already used before by someone else who got their account limited? With virgin mobile you have way more phone numbers to select from their pool.

I'm using this one: https://www.uwtcallback.com/
5.95 per month

Try them. The rest ones are rather expensive.
