PayPal requesting SSN for IRS even without hitting their required threshold!
 

So PayPal today sent me an e-mail requesting my SSN. I understand they have to follow guidelines set forth by the IRS but i have not sold over $20,000USD let alone get 200 payments/transactions for online sales.

I have purchased many cool items off eBay but not sell more then what's required to trigger a SSN request via PayPal's threshold.

In addition i also hear that eBay makes up their own new laws forcing sellers who are also not even close to PayPal's threshold to provide SSN. In additon eBay has been removing seller's listings until they provide the SSN to PayPal.

So i do not plan on selling anymore items until the first of 2012 when the clock resets for keeping myself under the limit. So i would like to know what success anyone has had in dealing with this problem?

Hi GreenBean, sorry i hit something for that to happen. I could not find away to delete the double post by bad. Secondly, i tryed to find a related topic but could not so i posted a new one. If you have a thread already started please hotlink it here so i can research the topic. I am not going to give out my SSN on the account since i'm well below the hot seat threshold. So please send me what's been started in the forum and maybe the questions are already posted...thanks in advance.
