Can a Non-US resident apply for US online bank account

Sure - you would prob have to fax in / mail in ID proof - have done it as Canadian though.

great, do you know which banks accept that, i mean mailing the document and not visiting in person to a branch?

Harris bank might - call them to ask. Might be a bit different for overseas but worth a try.

You can open with etrade (you would have to send in documents and everything). There might be some limitations on what you can do with the account so check before you open.

well do that, i have checked their website, didn't find anything related to overseas clients. but as you said , worth a try...

did anyone successfully did that, have an online bank account while not a US resident/citizen... Thank you for sharing the banks and experience

Etrade no longer offers bank accounts

you can't in USA Not even the legal Residents,you must be US Citizen. :(

But if you go in person you can just with the passport Or Consular ID and ITIN #

@chip, i tried the link for global accounts_etrade, it seems working still.will finish the application and update you all
crossing my fingers for good updates

Its possible but you need to check all twice and send in verification details.
